Total Travesty in the CFP & Iowa Game Observations…

The CFP just committed a felony in front of the nation and spun like a top to justify it. Screwing FSU because their QB is hurt is a cop out to sneak an SEC team in there because they caved to pressure from the media. Football is a socialist game. It’s not Motown groups like JJ & The Maize and Bluenotes, it’s not Milroe & The Crimsonettes, it’s not Ewers and The Longphonics, it’s Michigan, Alabama, and Texas. There is 100 guys on each team, and it takes every one of them to get to 13-0, beating 2 SEC teams in a conference that went 6-4 against the SEC. It doesn’t matter that their QB went down, there’s 99 other guys on that team that gave everything they had to get to 13-0. What a screw job..it’s like 1973 all over again when Franklin broke his leg and Delany royally screwed us by sending OSU to the Rose Bowl because Franklin was out. Arrrgh! So glad it’s a 12 team playoff next year and all of these business decisions will end.

Beat Nick and The Sabanettes!

The game last night:

I think Michigan didn’t adjust anything in the run or pass game last night on purpose. I had posted that Iowa’s offense had zero chance to score on Michigan’s D, and after Michigan went up 10-0, I turned to Pops and said the game was over.

I loved getting the shutout. I don‘t care how much the offense struggled, like I said, they didn’t adjust on purpose. 26-0 is a totally respectable domination in a game that, let’s be honest, was hard to get up for..for the fans and the team. The Championship was last week and the B1G Championship was just a possible trap game against at team that no hope of winning unless Michigan turned the ball over 5 times. I only have one thing to complain about, Loveland and Barner couldn’t catch a cold last night..they both had their worst games this year, and it didn’t even matter.

But the trophy ceremony was classic Harbaugh. He made it more awkward for Tony than I thought was possible. He totally gave him the gas face stiff arm to talk to Klatt. Tony stood there in the back looking like he farted in a crowded elevator, and then just disappeared like Ray Liotta into the cornfield. Oh was that sweet. Jim is the master of the payback.

So that’s it. I knew Michigan wasn’t going to show anything because they knew Iowa would be lucky to score 3 points if they weren’t sloppy with the ball. I don’t want to hear any “ifs” or “buts”…they didn’t happen and don’t have any value. That’s Football..it always comes down to missing opportunities or taking advantage of them. Michigan did..Iowa didn’t. We won in a complete domination shutout..to quote Lombardi “ If you’re not first..you’re last.”

Nobody is gonna care about this game in a week. All they’ll know is Michigan is back to back to back B1G Champs.

Now the Wolverines have a month to gameplan and heal up to face Bama from a very Mediocre SEC this year. I think they‘re a flawed team that needed the Deus Ex Machina to beat Aurburn. OSU was a far tougher opponent.

2 more games guys. Stay frosty. Keep the main thing the main thing.

Insider On Upton Stout…

Michigan offered Western Kentucky transfer Upton Stout today.

It sounds like Michigan is going to try to push hard here. Some I have spoken with view him very highly, with some believing he could possibly start right away for the program. They view him similarly to a Mike Sainristil in terms of versatility.

Here’s to the senior three time Big Ten champions!

Here’s to the senior three time Big Ten champions

On the last three Big Ten title teams. They are the players who are most responsible for “turning the worm”.

They remind me of the seniors on the 1971 unbeaten Big Ten champion team. That team had a core of players who as sophomores started in the historic 1969 upset over the team of the century and started that earlier turn of the worm. Players sych as Reggie McKenzie, Thomas Darden, Glenn Doughty, Mike Taylor, Billy Taylor.

1971 was simpler times, of course. No redshirting. No freshman eligibility. No free covid years. Those 1971 players were only on the varsity roster for three years and won their first and third years. The difference, of course is this year’s seniors have THREE straight wins over Ohio State and THREE straight undisputed championships.

So a special shout out to these seniors who have been members of all three Big Ten championship teams:

Roman Wilson
Cornelius Johnson
Eamonn Dennis
Blake Corum
Matthew Hibner
Trevor Keegan
Zak Zinter
Kasen Barnhart
Trente Jones
Jeffrey Persi
Reece Atterberry
Kris Jenkins
Jaylen Harrell
Braiden McGregor
Michael Barrett
Kalel Mullings
Joey Velazquez
Makari Paige
Quinten Johnson
Caden Kolesar
Mike Sainristl

Job well done. Here’s to you!

Insider Intel: Jim Harbaugh contract confidence check

Did some asking around today to get a better sense of where things stood with Jim Harbaugh’s contract talks now there is a little lull in the game action.

I want to preface what I am about to say that there is no clear timeline just yet, it is becoming crystal clear we’re in the final stages of talks.

From my very best source on the matter:
“I feel even more confident today than I did at this time yesterday that Jim Harbaugh wants to be Michigan’s head coach now and into the future.”

I don’t take these kinds of updates lightly, especially with my source who doesn’t play the hyperbole game and is very careful with how he words thing.

I know you’re all sitting here and asking when it’s going to get done.

All I can do is stress patience, things are in motion and headed in the right direction.

Recruiting Michigan to flip 2024 prospect

After speaking to sources on both sides of the fence, I am fully expecting 2024 DL Deyvid Palepale to flip to Michigan sooner rather than later.

I’ll speak more on what I know when I can, but this process has been well under way for quite some time. I don’t want to ruin anything or burn sources here so I’ll have a post script once it’s all wrapped up.

Michigan maintained contact here and Jesse Minter and Mike Elston did a great job.

As stated above, I expect an announcement very soon.

Quick comment on Indy

I have been to the last two Big Ten Championship games and can't say enough about how great of an experience Lucas Oil Stadium is.
We'll say security was a little enhanced this year, and it took longer than expected, but it is insane how painless the experience of working this game is.
Getting around downtown is so easy, in and out of the stadium. Had a great time and love that stadium.

The Only Reason FSU Was Punted

Had zero to do with the QB injury or quality of the team (tho both are real, they did not drive the decision)

The reason they were kicked out was that Georgia lost to Alabama and Alabama (by virtue of their loss at home to Texas) couldn’t be picked over Texas. Texas was brought in because including Alabama/the SEC champ was deemed necessary

To put it another way…

Had Georgia won that game, we would have four undefeated P5 Champs

Michigan
Washington
Georgia
FSU

That would have been your playoff field
No one (outside of Austin) would advocate for Texas over FSU in that case and no one should advocate for Texas over FSU Now. The problem is simply that…

Everyone would advocate for Texas over Alabama and the committee knew it. Since the SEC champ was going to get in under any circumstance, FSU got shafted by the inclusion the Alabama/Texas package deal

Plain and simple

A pure embarrassment
