There has to be at least 1 other "track n field head" on this site besides me😄...if so, check this out:
1. Our very own Savannah Sutherland runs in semi heats of 400m hurdles tonight @9:14pm EST on ESPN. Listen to me Wolverines, our very own Savannah is ranked #1 in the ENTIRE NATION at 400m hurdles.....root her on 2nite @9:14pm to advance....only 9 runners make the finals on Saturday out of 3 heats .....she won the 400mh title 2 years ago when Arkansas stud Britton Wilson decided to try to run a flat 400m and a 400m hurdles only 25 minutes apart🤷 and crapped out!....SEC and others dominant track...so it is special to have a #1 ranked title favorite in a long sprint!!
2. @10:36pm EST 2nite, Savannah will join 3 other Lady Wolverines in the semi's of the 4 X 400m relay....this will be tougher to advance....we (UM ladies) are ranked #14 in nation and only 9 advance to the finals on Saturday.....SEC womens' teams are absolutely stacked with future (and even current) 400m Olympians like Arkansas (Rosie Effiong, Kaylyn Brown) Georgia (Aliyah Butler), South Carolina (JaMeeshia Ford), etc......but the beauty of track and especially the relays, favorites OFTEN DROP THE BATONS!!!
3. I watched 2 of our 1500 m men UM runners advance last nite to the finals that will be on ESPN at 8:12pm tomorrow. Big 10 champ Trent McFarland (ranked #39 in NCAA) and teammate Brendan Herger (ranked #43 in nation) took full advantage of a tactical (slower) race, but were able kick strongly to make the finals....even the darn current NCAA 1500 meters record holder Liam Murphy got beat in this slow tactical race favoring the kickers, and that the winning time in the heat was about a about 10 or 15 seconds slower than he normally runs a 1500m🤷......root Trent and Brendan in tomorrow at 8:12pm EST if you can!
4. Football and track story #1: Arkansas WR Jordan Anthony will run in the 100m finals on Friday nite, after advancing to the finals last nite....I watched him run a 9.75 100m 2 weeks ago that was barely above legal wind....legal wind is 2.0 meters per seconds, but his 9.75 100m wind was 2.1....just barely over legal 2.0...I saw him run a 19.93 legal 200m two weeks ago as well.....9.94 is his "legal" best time....still, this is BLAZING speed on a football field (and on the track)....make sure u watch him tomorrow in the 100 & 200 finals because he has gotten faster each meet as the season has continued on, and he is promising us something special in the finals....
5. Football and track story #2: There was an Iowa Hawkeye 100m runner last night Kalen Walker in the semi's last night, and while he clocked a 10.23 last night in 100m race and missed advancing to the finals, they said he ran a 40 yard dash in front of the Iowa football team last October and clocked a darn 4.15 in the 40 yard dash🤷...
All right-enough....but make sure you root UM's Savannah Sutherland on 2nite at 9:14pm on ESPN👍
