Always remember why we’re here

I always feel weird wishing people a “happy” Memorial Day.

For some, it’s a celebration of a day off work, BBQing and enjoying the weather. The unofficial first day of summer.

For others, it’s a day to remember what’s been lost. The ultimate sacrifice that was given by those brave souls who fought for our country.

I’m happy that I can enjoy the freedoms we all have in this country because of those selfless men and women who have sacrificed everything for the greater good.

I’ll never forget and will always keep what today truly means in perspective while I enjoy my day in the process.

For those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice, who have given us the opportunity to enjoy our freedoms as we keep today in perspective, thank you.

Football Was doing some thinking regarding talk of Wink’s “aggressive” defense

We’ve heard countless times from people who have been at practices and players during spring that Wink’s defense is going to be “aggressive”, more so than previous DCs.

I know some have the natural reaction to be concerned, thinking about Don Brown and his “aggressive” defense.

To me, the two cannot be compared at all but I understand the fear.

First off, the two schemes are not even in the same stratosphere in terms of how things are lined up. Michigan is currently multiple, with different packages, Brown’s defense wasn’t as multiple.

Secondly, you can be aggressive and also adapt and adjust when needed. That was Brown’s biggest downfall. Constantly trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You need to adjust to offenses, you can’t force your system to work, which we saw it get burned multiple times in big games. Offenses learn to adjust to your defense, you need to adjust again. It’s a game of chess always. It’s not like Michigan has been void of talent and suddenly has talent. They might have better, more prepared players now but that’s not to say it could not have happened in the past. In the current scheme, Michigan has answers to pretty much every offense that gets thrown at them, we saw that the last two years, this year especially. Wink isn’t a dumb person, nor is Brown, but it’s clear that Wink is willing to put players in a position to succeed that makes sense and not trying to force something.

This is why I’m not concerned if Wink gets blitz heavy, there will be answers to different scenarios.

Just wanted to talk out loud. What do you think?

Harbaugh...

I am on my youtube feed and disturbing how all the Buckeye outlets are still crafting up Harbaugh anger and propaganda. The man has moved on. They just can't let it go. News comes out on Franklin, tie the upcoming BS book about Jim, Is Harbaugh the NCAA victim, it is slight to say no he isn't.

I only have it on my feed to watch their melt downs after the game but now I need to hit the "don't recommend channel" going forward.

I get we are rival but talk about the latest team not the past person that you can't do anything about.

Forgive my rant but....

The Tigers are pathetic. The hitting is a joke. The pitching is good but they never get any run support. Reese Olson is pitching the best he's ever pitched in his career but he can't get a win because his teammates can't hit a baseball. This organization's inability to develop hitters is beyond frustrating. I guess that gets overlooked when the owner doesn't give a damn about the team.
The one that takes the cake is AJ Hinch. He said that 8-3, 10-3, and 8-3 games in KC were competitive.🤣😂 I want what he's smoking.
It seems that the Tigers & OSU have one thing in common: they're soft. Nothing but excuses comes from leadership positions at both places.

Insider On Bobby Kanka…

Living in Howell and going to high school there, you hear a few things first hand thanks to people you know.

Was told that Michigan DL coach Lou Esposito had visited current commit Bobby Kanka in school recently and things appear to be back on track with him while things were in limbo.

He has an OV scheduled for Michigan's big recruiting weekend, June 21.

I feel more optimistic today that he ends up sticking in the class.

BTT Baseball - B1G umps screw Iowa... unbelievable call

here's the setting in today's B1G elimination game between Iowa and Illinois.

Illinois scores 2 in the top of the 10th to make it 4-2.

Iowa loads the bases i the bottom of the 10th with no out and Seegers up at the plate. Seegers if 4-7 inn the tourney so far.

He hits a smash to first base and the first baseman makes a scrambling play to get them ball ans throw to the Illinois SS at second to try for a double play.

The run slides straight into the base, not to either side. while he may have been a little late as his feet overslide the base, he did not touch the SS in any way who caught the ball on the inside of the bag and through to first to try and complete the double play. Seegers beat out the play.

Keep in mind Illinois was the regular season champion

The umps called the runner going into second out for a "slide interference" which also resulted in Seegers (the batter) being called out and the runners on third and second to return to their bases.
Instead of a 4-3 game with runners on 1st and third with one out, the game was now runners on second and third with two outs and the score reverts back to 4-2.

You have to watch the replay... such BS. IMO.

Illinois had not replay left, but the umps decided to review the play and called it "confirmed". not sure what they were looking at.

It wasn't like the runner going to second ran out of the base line, not did hit impede or in any other way touch the SS who caught the ball and returned a throw back to first. Nor did he raise his hands to try an prevent the ball from getting to the SS. I find it hard to believe they called the runner out from heading straight to second as fast as he could. Even the announcers thought the call would be overturned upon review. But not in our B1G. Why ruin the leagues reputation for fine officiating.

I have no dog in this fight, but that call was just wrong. Iowa's coach did his best interpretation of George Brett in the pine tar incident or Whitey Herzog going to the mound or even a Bill Martin rant. Hell of a way to have your season end.

I don't recall seeing a B1G head coach so irate over a call. Watch for Pettiti to discipline him, but that would BS too.

I don't know that I could equate it to a football call Michigan received and how we felt afterwards. IF so, it may be in Bo's last Rose Bowl when they called a penalty on our fake punt late in the game negating a huge gain and retain the ball with a chance to do more. Or more recently, when Ojabo hit MSU's QB and forced a fumble which Hutchinson recovered in the end zone in the 2021 game at MSU. Those would be very close.

Court Settlement NCAA..Revenue Sharing Coming/power 5

2022 suit settlement came down today tossing out the window most of the conventionally long espoused rules the Ncaa had been clinging to regarding recruits, money and Oh Yes. that sinful appeal Harbaugh dared to suggest ' Revenue sharing for athletes should be embraced and implemented with NCAA compliance and affordance of application' That stung the NCAA in their rocks, or lack thereof. Harbaugh dared to whisper such heresy. He so did and along came the birth of hamburger gate, spygate etc to teach Harbaugh a lesson and invite him to the exit ramp leading to promotions in football. Guess what! Now here we are and JH was quite accurate with his exhortation. Multi billion $$$ settlement transpires and articulated changes are on the near horizon. Changes with parallelism to Harbaugh's harsh council. He left behind a footprint beyond just a Natty.

Man the hate…

It’s amazing living in this age where media now directs things to us that it predicts will stoke our emotion and engagement.

Evidently being a Michigan fan gets me gobs of hate on X. It’s remarkable people think the way they do let alone put it out there for consumption. The anger that something like Dono getting a cover elicits - wow.

I thought the investment in JJ not being drafted high was bizarre.

People are sick. If I ever show signs of that - someone beat me - please.
