OT: The Gordian Knot of OCD - 🎶 You Had a Bad Day🎵..

Well, to be as short as possible, whenever I read the news or see a post on social media that uses a sarcastically clever or funny quip, my brain immediately finds some insipid pop song that I absolutely despise and plays it on a loop over and over and over..for an indeterminate amount of time..that can last as little as 30 minutes..or as long as week. For the oldheads - fellas, remember back in the day when artists used to craft a story or theme for an album like, for example, Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” classic LP that is universally recognized by the public, the critics, and most importantly, by their peers, as a top 10 rock album of all time? Even people who don’t like Fleetwood Mac love that album. My OCD operates like a huge skip in the worst song on the album 3 minutes into the song that kicks the stylus arm all the way back to the beginning over and over until you went over to your turntable to move the needle to the next song. Except with OCD, there is no arm the unfortunate cost I’m willing to pay to taste the deliciously sweet schadenfreude of Russian swine in tears from this post..

.

My Grandfather, a man of very few words, was listening to me talk about how much I hated the Germans and Russians, not for their atrocities committed in WWII, but for the entirety of the millennia of atrocities they’ve both committed against my people. He was silent until I finished and the spoke to me saying..

“Tot (he never could pronounce my name), forgive the Germans. Any nation of people can fall under the spell of a charismatic messiah promising deliverance and vengeance to a nation in complete shambles. It could have happened in any nation, so forgive the Germans. The Russians you can never forgive. They are a brutal people and born liars. Never trust a Russian..especially the women. They are all devilish beasts.”

I was shocked. I’ve never seen him say more than one or two sentences when talking. Nor have I ever him use compound sentences with a vocabulary I did not know he possessed. He was a “Vital Data” conversationalist who spoke only what was necessary to ask or answer questions like Belichick at a mandatory post game presser. That left an indelible mark on my brain. As a result, I did forgive the Germans and I’m glad they are now a close ally. Meanwhile, I will take delicious joy in watching Putin continue on losing this War of Attrition against Ukraine. Ukrainians hate Putin and the Russians so much that the probably of this begin Russia’s Vietnam gets more likely with each day.

Hope that all of you enjoy this as much as I am.

Video Hail to the Podcast: Summer football talk

Michigan Football is heading to the summer following an eventful transfer portal window and with recruiting set to pick up. Josh Henschke, Trevor McCue, and Brock Heilig discuss the biggest impact on the depth chart following transfer portal losses and additions. They also talk about June Recruiting intel and what Michigan must do to be successful.

Recruiting Visitor List: Weekend of June 1

Michigan’s loaded month of June is set to kick off this weekend with a handful of official visitors set to be on campus this weekend.

Here’s who the staff is expecting and, as always, these lists are subject to additions and subtractions.

Patch, logo & naming rights

To offset the new expenses of playing players Michigan is likely considering all the options available.

Assuming they’ll add these new revenue streams at some point which one would you be against the most?

Patch on uniform or helmet. MLB, NHL & NBA have added ad patches over the last couple years NFL and CFB can’t be far behind.

Logo on the field and/or wall in stadium. Maybe they could sell just CGI TV logos to persevere the at the game experience.

Michigan Stadium presented by Absopure. Looks terrible writing it and saying it but it’s certainly easy money.

I’d be against the patch on the uniform and of course the helmets the most. I have not gotten used to the ads on the jerseys and helmets in the pros. It looks tacky & cheap.

Recruiting Expectations coming out of the weekend…

Heading into the weekend, I do not believe Michigan was leading for any visitors that were coming in but I also don’t believe they had outside shots with any guys, either. Otherwise, why would they be visiting?

However, I fully expect to hear that Michigan has made moves over the weekend for a number of guys. This was their opportunity to put their best foot forward with guys like Derek Meadows and Douglas Utu, both who have made spring visits and are returning for officials.

We shall see what develops over the next few days.

Recruiting Michigan's checklist for a loaded month of June

I outlined what Michigan's checklist should look like for the month of June from a recruiting standpoint.

Michigan football thoughts for June

I’ve enjoyed this off-season more than any other in my lifetime. ‘23 Michigan football joins ‘97 football and ‘89 basketball as my top three seasons in UM history.

Michigan is in decent to very good position in recruiting especially if they green light paying preps. This subject is rightfully debated daily and we will know more on this soon. I’d give them four or five weeks from today before I start getting worried or panicking. Two years ago there was a narrative that Michigan couldn’t compete in the portal. They’ve added 19 transfers since. They NIL’d those who stayed last year and were able to retain the bulk of the key players on the roster this year — save DJ Waller. With immediate money and playing time available elsewhere it’s almost impossible to develop younger guys like Cam Calhoun, Amir Herring, Karmelo English and Semaj Bridgeman. Jeremiah Beasley was an odd case.

Expecting the defense to look and perform at the level of last years. I like the star level talent on offense with Colston Loveland and Donovan Edwards. Tyler Morris and Semaj Morgan are emerging stars. Marlin Klein is a good breakout candidate at tight end. Alex Orji is a real wild card. There’s a better than not chance that he can play well and lead Michigan to victory over Texas in week two. If that happens UM can beat anybody in the country.

My two question marks are QB and offensive line. Maybe depth inside on the defensive line. Last summer kicker, punter, tight end depth and wide receiver (somewhat) were all question marks.

$5.25 million verdict against PSU and Franklin (by extension)

It's Good News, Wednesday! 5-29-24

My good news is we are still National Champions, and it's less than 100 days until football.

My mom turned 89 on Saturday, and we spent the whole weekend loving on her. She's in good shape and still pretty sharp. Both she and my stepdad are 89 and impressive.

Work is busy, and when it's busy, it's a lot of fun for me. I enjoy the deadlines and pressure.

Other than that, I'm trying to spend as much time as possible with my granddaughter and enjoy the ride.

Michigan's EA Sports College Football 25 team rating

Offense: 92
Defense: 92
Overall: 93

It also shows Michigan as being ranked ninth in the nation. Pretty interesting

There is a disclaimer that "player & team ratings shown are not final and subject to change," but I wouldn't expect too much change between now and the release of the game... not that much can change.
