I've had this mower for more than a decade when I bought it used for $1000. It has a stand-up sulky that I can ride when I mow. It's been trouble-free since I bought it until this year.

Today I picked it up, and the repair bill was $1,085. After I picked myself off the floor, we had a long talk about what was done, what a replacement mower would cost, and WAS IT WORTH IT TO KEEP IT!

A new replacement would be in the neighborhood of $5,000. The repair guy told me the only thing that was left to replace that could be a problem in the future would be the tranny, but the thought if it ever went, he could get a used one.

He said I got a pretty good deal on repairs, and it should be like new. The carb was the big ticket item on the parts list. He said I was lucky it had a Kawasaki motor, at least they have the parts available.

As much as it pained me, I paid and brought it home. The world has gotten really expensive.

Did I get hosed or did I make the best out of a bad situation?

Years ago I heard a basketball coach/ color commentator say that he generally did not want to call a time out to set up a play. He said it just gave the defense time to regroup and plan defenses to the logical offensive play.

i have grown to like this philosophy. There are exceptions but playing helter skelter, more often than not produces a better result. It sure has for M. our last set up attempts have poor, except for Baker’s wide open missed shot.

i feel I am I the distinct minority in this but IMO it takes a really good design and a very good player to be successful.

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about receiving these pledges so early. Two top 100 guys from the south! I feel like I'm headed for disappointment. It would be a great testament to our staff if they both actually sign on the dotted line.

Obviously Red Bull dominated as expected. Will depend track to track, but there isn't a challenger close right now.

Mercedes, that zero pod just isn't going to work, but they have TWO incredible drivers. I will never count them out. Nice run, all things considered.
Midfield is nice and contested. Williams, crazy strong day, points for Albon and the American Logan gets P12??
Alpine...why were they so damn confident this offseason? Ocon, weird day.
Alfa Romeo looking decent with Bottas and Zhou, I just want Audi now though.
AlphaTauri was better than I expected.
Haas had some bad luck early, otherwise I think Nico could have had a nice run.
McLaren...sigh. I feel so bad for Lando Norris. I know they'll be better in a handful of races, but ugh.

Full circle, Gattis was heading to Maryland with Locksley before Harbaugh called Gattis and eventually offered him the OC spot at Michigan.

He was a very good actor. Unfortunately, he had some demons.

What is the reputation of Cranbrook these days? When I was growing up outside of Ann Arbor, it was an elite school. I see it still ranked in the top 25 nationally. Anyone have any experience with the school, community, academics, etc.?

Mantrez Walker will be back on campus next week to spend some time with the coaching staff. He has a date set tentatively on the 12th but might go up there earlier to get some extra time in with the staff and such.
