Insider Quick note on DL coach search...

I have confirmed that Sherrone Moore has yet to reach out to Terrance Jamison from Illinois for the role as of this posting. He was a name we heard floated around and included in the thread below

Four names at DL coach I’ve heard…

I get the sense if a conversation were to be struck up that there would absolutely be interest.

Insider Four names at DL coach I’ve heard…

I’m still working to get a better sense of where things are on the pecking order and whether anything serious will happen but I have heard the following names for DL coach:

Todd Bates (Oklahoma), Randall Joyner (Ole Miss) both of whom I consider more pipedreams than anything. I don’t take much stock into those names unless I hear something progress. Bates would be a “thanks but no thanks” candidate if Moore called. Joyner would be a tough pull, too.

Greg Scruggs (Wisconsin) and Terrance Jamison (Illinois) have also been mentioned and could be more realistic choices but I have yet to hear a clear pecking order right now. I am working to see how deep these two are as potential candidates.

I have asked our Wisconsin and Illinois sites and neither have heard anything progressing there, either.

I think all four names are excellent recruiters. In terms of developers, Jamison is fantastic. So if a name were to be pulled from this list, that’s a big win for Moore.

I will continue to dig and see if any more names pop up but this is what I am hearing tonight. It doesn’t seem like anything is imminent at the moment.

OT: Bill O'Brien to take over BC

Appears that way. Also from what I understand, his son suffers from a neurological disorder and the doctor that can treat it is in Boston, so this makes sense.

This needs its own thread. What should be the final word on Jim's departure.

Shame on every one of you that relentlessly slandered our AD with blame for Jim leaving when it was so obvious what his destination was going to be if given a good opportunity. Because of the new world of "lie and slander as much as you want there's no accountability" we live in - there isn't any accountability for it, which is why I post. Do better next time.

And despite taking all that slander, Warde never lashed out in defense of himself nor took it out on Jim who he sent out with a incredibly gracious statement full of compliments. Jim chose not to make a statement - just a brief mention in a CHARGERS release saying he'll always love Michigan.

I'm fine with Jim and his choice. I appreciate both of these Michigan men for their service. Many of you should apologize to one.

I’ve Never Seen…

… the implosion of a staff like we’ve seen since Jim Harbaugh left for the Chargers. If I’m counting correctly, only 4 of the 12 man 2023 coaching staff will return for 2024. Head coach, new OC, new OL coach, WR coach. I’m assuming that if Clinkscale has been offered, he too will accept. Plus some support staff who we may not be familiar with. The recruiting operation has been completely decimated.

Jim Harbaugh has not only scratched his itch to get back to the NFL, but on his way out he’s arranged for the generational destruction of Michigan football. I will never, ever refer to Jim Harbaugh as a Michigan Man. Disgusting.

DONT STOP BRAGGIN’

I know this off-season has been crazy and probably not what most of us expected but as a guy who lives around a bunch of Ohio state fans I’ll let the present take care of itself what I won’t give up is the opportunity to brag alllllllllll YEAR that Michigan is national champions and I won’t stop until they’re knocked out of contention. Also we get to brag we’ve built Ohio 3 years running and until they beat us again I won’t shut up about that either. Being a fan is a hard thing and I would rather spend time enjoying these last couple years and being a NC then stressing about a season that hasn’t happened yet.

Wow. Are we impatient or what?!

I'm new here. I LOVE the knowledge and insight that is shared on this forum about Michigan sports and will continue to come back because I think Josh, Trevor, and everyone else who provide the inside information for those of us who visit on a regular basis do a fantastic job.

But...holy crap is this Michigan fan base in an impatient and doomsayer place right now, or what?!

Sherrone Moore was named HC TWO WEEKS ago and many of us are pissed off that he hasn't name a DC yet. Good grief, the poor man likely even hasn't set up his new office at UM yet!

Michigan football has experienced something it has NEVER been through...a Head Coach leaving us for the NFL after winning a National Championship. Of course it's going to take some time, especially because said coach, deservedly, wanted to take some of his winning staff with him to the NFL. Because the NC games happen so much later now, it's not surprising that the coaching search for UM is still ongoing, barely three weeks after Harbaugh announced he's leaving.

So far, it seems that Michigan has avoided any kinds of massive abandonment via the transfer portal, which is likely due to Moore himself being named the successor to JH. Whether that changes remains to be seen, of course, but recent news has me hopeful it won't happen. Have we missed out on adding some people this transfer period, probably. But the mix of returning starters and the 'next men up' is still exciting for next season.

I understand that recruiting is the lifeblood of college sports. But Michigan has proved that with great COACHING a team can rise to the top despite not having a tons of 5* players. I believe Sherrone Moore will continue that tradition of top notch coaching with whomever he hires for his staff. Frankly, with Moore in charge, perhaps Michigan's recruiting will get even better. But we can't even pretend to know WTF is going to happen two weeks after the man was named head coach! I hope he continues to bring in young men who are about being at MICHIGAN, not some NIL bullshit. That's what has made the recent teams so amazing.

To say that this program is all of a sudden tanking is absolutely asinine. Will repeating as B1G and National Champs be difficult. OF COURSE! It would have been hard if Harbaugh, McCarthy, et al, had stayed. That's what makes winning championships so special! They can be rare! I, for one, am going to continue enjoying walking around in my NC gear and all the random GO BLUEs I get from strangers even here in NM. My favorite sports teams (Michigan, MilwaukeeBrewers) haven't been on the hilltop for a LONG time (or ever), so I'm going to relish this 2023 Michigan Wolverines Football team until the 2024 season starts.

No offense to anyone who has posted about their impatience, btw. We ALL love our Michigan football team and want to see the best things for it. I certainly understand any frustration. But, there's a process for all of this AND we got a late start due to the timing of WINNING A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Goddamn that sounds great, don't it?! GO BLUE!
