STOCK REPORT Defense: Michigan State

The nation's best defense.
The EDGE rotation is killer, and I think we have our breakout star.
Mason Graham is unstoppable. Michael Barrett is the #1 defender, but don't sleep on Colson.
The secondary will be healthier, talented, and deep post-bye week.

Football My thoughts on Jim Harbaugh and facts vs. opinions

If you've been following me for a while on here, you know I like to focus on the here and now instead of looking ahead to what could possibly happen down the road in my reporting. There's a difference between reporting a fact and making an opinion.

This is my opinion on Jim Harbaugh and what could possibly happen down the road.

Could this spell the end for Jim Harbaugh? Could this be what pushes him over the edge to the NFL? Of course it could but that doesn't mean it's absolutely going to happen. My OPINION is that it could happen, we don't know that it IS going to happen, though. He hasn't told anyone of his intentions.

Opinion vs. facts is easily misconstrued but facts never lie.

As for everything we've been hearing, Jim Harbaugh is rightfully upset at the entire situation, he's an emotional guy, so it's not a shock to hear him be very upset with the entire situation. Is this enough to push him over the edge? We don't know for sure. I could state my opinion, sure, and it could end up happening, but stating an opinion that turns out to be a fact doesn't make it originally a fact, it makes me a good guesser. This is why I want to report the facts and separate opinions when necessary.

As for the NCAA investigation itself, none of the evidence links directly back to Harbaugh. That's a fact. Santa Ono and Warde Manuel are supportive of Jim Harbaugh and have his back. That is a fact.

Can there be evidence that comes out that flips it all on its head? Of course, but that's all hypothetical and opinion-based. That's not a fact.

If it feels like I am repeating myself, it's probably because I am. Until evidence comes out that suggests this thing gets flipped upside down, and I won't be holding my breath, what I've reported here is what I know. I'm not going to speculate much more than that since we don't have all the info and what we know is that there is nothing that links back to Harbaugh.

This is probably long-winded but I have been asked in many different ways whether there's something that will happen to Harbaugh before the investigation wraps up.

Until there's something that happens, I'm not expecting it to happen. What happens after the season is over is another discussion to be had then. Could he leave? Sure. Do we KNOW he will leave? Of course not.

Stapleton Statement

Was this really a denial?

Just a thought on the Weiss situation

There have been rumors to what Weiss was fired for. One was accessing enails of female students. The other was he that he accessed emails of transferred athletes to see if there had been any tampering from other teams. I hope neither is true but the second rumor worries me in case Weiss states that he was directed to that by coaches. Just thinking out loud due to the fact that the FBI is involved.

One thing I find increasingly curious…

The speed with which Greg Schiano made sure the media knew his halftime comments weren’t about sign sealing. Go back and listen to it for yourself…he was talking about the refs? Hmmm.

And I’m not exactly flying blind on this. The more I talk with folks around the conference and elsewhere it becomes increasingly clear that Schiano hates Jim Harbaugh’s guts - some believe even more than Day does - and that Schiano has been willing to talk with anyone who will listen about UM’s sign stealing operation.

I’m not prone to conspiracy theories but I do now wonder whether Schiano played a role in the anonymous private investigation.

"Everyone Steals Signs", a kid-friendly narrative

I asked ChatGPT to create a story about the sign-stealing allegations in the style of "Everyone Poops", the children's book. I enjoyed the final result, so figured I'd share the story. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Title: Everyone Steals Signs

In a land of many schools, they all love to play games.
But sometimes, in games, not everything is fair and tame.

The Michigan Wolverines loved to play, but someone said they peeked in a way.
The Buckeyes cried out, with a loud, loud shout, “Wolverines steal signs, no doubt!”
The Scarlet Knights joined in too, saying, “Our signs were peeked, it's true!”

The Spartans considered the claim, thinking of skipping the game, as the allegations chimed.
The Wolverines were annoyed, the allegations they denied, asserting, "we play fair every time!"

The Wolverines played on, in the Big Ten’s long song.
Then the Horned Frogs hopped along, saying, “Our signs were stolen, that's wrong.”

But the Bulldogs barked out loud, “Our signs were safe and sound!”
“No sign stealing was found, when Wolverines were around.”

In the world of games, accusations fly, but the love for the play never dies.
Everyone might steal signs, but the truth always shines.

And no matter the claims, the Wolverines still played games.
