Michigan Hiring NIL GM

Michigan set to be the latest to hire for this role through its partnership with Altius Sports Partners and a $255K salary allocation. Hail! Impact collective Founder Chin Weerappuli on the impact that could have: “We want Michigan to be on the cutting edge of NIL and know what others are doing and continue to push the envelope. Altius is going to, from what I’ve heard, really assist with that.” - Quoted from The Athletic's Austin Meek

Recruiting Tony Alford’s presence puts Michigan in the mix for five-star RB Jordon Davison

Spoke with the father of 2025 five-star running back Jordon Davison this evening, the family had built a particularly close bond with Tony Alford while he was with Ohio State. Naturally, I asked about what Alford's presence means for the Wolverines' chances moving forward.

Here are some quick notes

On Alford: "Him and Jordon have a great, very great, relationship. He played a big role in is recruitment and I respect coach Alford. He's a good coach."

On Alford's presence in Ann Arbor means for for the Wolverines: "It added a team for sure we will be coming to check out the school soon."

He added that a date had not been finalized but 'should be soon.'

As for U-M's run game, Mr. Davison mentioned that Jordon was a fan of Blake Corum and they both are planning to look into the running game more with Alford hired.

I will have more on this development as soon as they nail down a date to visit.

Just throwing this out there, but what IF the SEC & B1G wanted to move to

two 24 team leagues. This could bring a 16 team playoff, With both leagues having a 6 team division, playing an 11 game conference schedule. Each league getting the winner of each division into the 16 team CFB. Then the 4 teams play a 13th game to decide where the 4 teams get seeded in the CFB play off. Then the B1G & SEC get 5 teams each into the CFB playoff leaving 6 spots open for the Big 12, (ACC if it survives) and the remaining G5 leagues. This makes the selection of the teams participating in the CFB playoff rather clean, YES or NO?

Insider Intel: Dusty May makes contact with one portal entrant

It was heavily implied when Wisconsin guard Connor Essegian entered the transfer portal that there was mutual interest between the two parties, with Essegian "wanting" U-M.

While it took a few days for it to happen, as expected, we can confirm that Dusty May has reached out to Essegian and the two plan to speak more formally soon. May has been an admirer of his game for a while now.

More on this when I have it.

Insider Intel: One portal entrant with interest in Michigan

After doing some digging, it certainly feels like there is legitimate interest between Wisconsin guard Connor Essegian and Michigan. Essegian announced on Sunday that he planned to enter the portal.

Per two separate sources, we are told that Essegian 'wants' U-M and May and that U-M is also interested as well.

I have yet to confirm that the two have made contact as of today but I feel like it's only a matter of time before it happens. With plenty of roster space available, May can offer Essegian a big role in the program.

I'll continue to dig and see where this goes.
