Hot takes.

The officiating cost us at least four points. How the first TD is not reviewed is unacceptable. How CBS didn't show the look until it went to commercial smacks of a little shenanigans. How our staff wasn't on top of it is unacceptable.

Wink is an enigma. Two games in a row, they have been abused on the first drive and settled in for some good ball for a few series. It's hard to judge him because the D is pretty banged up, but overall, I think he gets a D on the season. Third and long continues to be a crap show, and the tackling is below average. How many long drives did they give up today? A bunch.

Special teams played a huge part in this game. They got a turnover that helped get our first TD, and then they had the incredibly stupid penalty on the punt that kept the OR drive alive, eventually leading to points.

The offense is bizarre. Campbell appears to have no feel for the game right in front of him. This was not MSU. We needed to play solid, hard-nosed football, and instead, we got the circus. How many times did we lose yardage on first down? Why would you draw up a game plan that features running side to side against a speed defense? Why, when the chips are down, would you take the ball out of the hands of your best players?

Overall, our guys played very hard. I thought Davis was outstanding. More receivers were involved. Loveland was great. The O-line is what it is. The kicking game was solid.

The coaching was bad enough that the CBS TV crew was openly calling them out. The coaches didn't put the Wolverines in positions to succeed.

Tough to watch. Our guys deserved better.

UM's mens & women's B-ball seasons kickoff 2nite Nov 4th, both on TV

-UM Men's B-ball: The Dusty May era starts tonite at home against Cleveland State, @ 8pm on BTN

Point Spread 17.5 for UM

-UM Women's B-ball: The women play a Hall of Fall Series game in Vegas against none other than juggernaut South Carolina...SC is 109-3 last 3 years with 2 Natty's in 3 years. Good news, 6-7" Camilla Cardozo is in WNBA & 6'3" dunker Ashlyn Watkins is suspended. Bad news, SC is still absolutely LOADED with talent and is pre-season #1. With players Te-Hina Paopao, Sania Feagin, generational talent Milaysia Fillwiley, Tessa Johnson, Raven Johnson (who switched on Caitlin Clark and only player ever to shut down Clark), Bree Hall, Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, etc., etc., this will be the toughest possible challenge for our women out of the gate! Hopefully are ladies will stay poised, play hard, and be in the fight. This will be tougher challenge than #1 Oregon in football.
UM vs SC @7:30pm on TNT & Tru TV

"The trip went great! The Big House experience definitely lived up to its name, and the facilities, campus and people were all amazing I really enjoyed it.

"Michigan is sitting pretty high for me right now. I feel strong about our relationship and think they're a great program that I can see myself having a lot of success in."

Cam was traveling late Sunday so we'll follow up this week for more.

Brady Hart had his recruiting hat on Saturday

Touched base with the elite Michigan QB commitment, who was back in AA on Saturday. He not only enjoyed reconnecting with the UM staff in person, where he continues to report solidity, but he was recruiting for Moore and company along the way. He mentioned targets like Jamar Browder, Lincoln Keys, Brock Harris and Moose Ludwig among those he was spending time with while on campus.

"I had the recruiting reigns today," Hart tells Rivals. "It was an amazing time, can't wait to see what is in the future for this program."

Hart also said he was well aware of the Bryce Underwood smoke and hopes the staff can reel him in, saying it could be a great start to the finish of the 2025 cycle while providing more competition for him when he arrives for good. It shouldn't surprise to know the Floridian is plenty ready to compete.

Folks are going to focus on Campbells late stretch culimating in the Morgan pass...

and they should because that was a deplorable sequence and most know I don't do the play calling thing because theres so much nuance we don't know.

But you don't need all the nuance to know that taking the ball out of Warren's hands who was actually on fire creating two tds out of near nothing to put it in semaj's hands for an all or nothing trick play was brutal.

BUT, what I find even worse and makes me wonder what he did learn about how we won for three years, is his first three first down play calls. Perimeter based plays that lost a total of 7 yards.

On the first series on 2nd down we punch them square in the face and Edwards went for 8, but we were already behind the sticks.

Then we got back to the middle on second down after the fumble recovery and Don gets 15.

Unreal.

So we know we need to possess, we know Mullings and Edwards are a strength, its November in the Big Ten with Oregon travelling cross country and Campbell is going grab bag with his offensive calls. No chance to set a tone that puts them on their heels and makes them question if they are in for a bigger fight than they thought.

I was and remain disgusted with it.
