How to fix playoffs

Been thinking about this and how the playoffs could be better as far as seeding and picking who gets in:

Get rid of conf championship game, the regular season conf outright winner gets an autobid from the P4 conferences. (Why If I win the conf in regular season do I need to be rewarded with an extra game)

Replace conf champ weekend with a wild card weekend between the 2nd & 3rd team in the P4 conferences. The winner of that game now gets into the playoff.

Best G5 team auto gets in & then that leaves you with 3 at large bids.

Lastly do seeding like March madness wait until the 12 teams have been picked and seed them that way.

Not perfect but I think better than current model.

Insider Still digging on OC…

No names have emerged YET from the initial we’ve heard however there are folks who are adamant that Michigan wants to go younger with the OC pick and who has a history of QB development.

Who checks those boxes? Not sure currently.

I don’t get the sense Jason Candle will go further than the initial discussion.

Will do more digging.

2024 Big 10 Football Schedule analysis

With there being no divisions in the Big 10 conference now, the easiest conference schedules will help teams get to the conference championship game. I’ve been curious about how things shook out this year, so I did some analysis. Here are some initial things that jumped out to me:
- Indiana played 7 of the bottom 8 teams.
- Iowa also played 7 of the bottom 8 teams.
- Iowa only played 1 team in the top 6.
- Michigan played 4 of the top 5 teams (only team in the top 14 of the standings to do so), with 3 of the 4 being on the road.
- Michigan played 7 of the top 11 teams.
- Osu is the only team in the top 10 to play the top 3 teams.
- UCLA is the only team to not play an opponent lower than 12.
- Purdue is the only team to play the top 5 teams (their other 4 games were against teams 12-16).
- MSU played 7 of the top 9 teams, and also played the worst 2.
- USC played 1 team in the top 6.
