OT: Question re U of M admissions

So my daughter received the dreaded "deferred" on her early action application. She applied to LSA and expressed to be considered by the School of Education. She has a 4.0 GPA and 31 ACT from a prestigious Catholic high school here in Chicago, the same one as a certain 5 star HS football recruit. Plus I am a somewhat significant donor to the athletic department. Not in the Ross range. But they should be familiar with my name. Michigan was my daughter's number one school. So a little disappointing.

Anyone here with any kind of inside knowledge on what she can reasonably expect? How many deferred does a school like Michigan typically take. I realize this can fluctuate from year to year. I suspect there might be posters on this board that might have greater insider knowledge on the process. Is anything we can do to advance her application other than submitting a letter of continued interest and her first semester grades? I am not sure if a call into admissions would do much or is really a good idea. Throwing this to the board.

It's Good News Wednesday! (1-25-23)

My good news is despite all the offseason drama, it's great to be a Michigan Wolverine! I love our coach, and the NCAA can shove those Whoppers right up their Hershey highway.

I'm looking forward to spring ball.

We went to Epcot on Sunday, and I rode Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, I fancy myself as a bit of a theme park ride expert. I've been all over the country riding various roller coasters and simulators. Without a doubt, I have never had a better experience or more fun on a ride than Guardians of the Galaxy.

It's hard to explain. Disney puts you in a cool environment, adding music to the experience. Our song was "Disco Inferno." It was just a fun ride.

Space mountain times 50.

Life is good, and I feel blessed.

What's your good news?

Go Blue!

Michigan Basketball is in serious trouble

This program is now 30-25 in the last 55 games.

Just got blown out by penn state.

Tschetter barely gets to play until it's a 30 point margin.

No Jett being out excuse.

This program needs a serious overhaul and I'm not sure how the hell that can be done in one offseason's time.

There's no proven coaching history to go back on either here.

Recruiting Mason Curtis' relationship with Michigan growing stronger after each visit

"The more I go up there, the better our relationship is going to get, and it's grown every single time I've been up there."

Class of 2024 commit Mason Curtis talks about his latest visit to Ann Arbor, how he is helping recruit some fellow top talent to join him at Michigan and why he is 100% locked in with the Wolverines.

Harbaugh turns down Broncos. Again.

Some reports during the latest round of Harbaugh to NFL rumors suggested Harbaugh was gone simply if he got offered an NFL job.
Well, that was wrong and turns out it was wrong again.
With the Broncos missing out on candidates left and right, they took another shot with Harbaugh.
He told them no. Again.

Does Baker have another year of eligibility?

No guys here seem interested in staying with their free years aside from Eli.

Having some of those older guys could have helped.

Was he a one and done plan?

I definitely expect some bench player attrition so space will be available.

Ideally though, we'd want to find a guy in the mold of Chaundee Brown.

My guess is we probably move on from both he and Llewellyn though.

Has Warde… ?

… presented JH with a contract for his signature?

How long has it been since President Ono announced that he and Harbaugh had agreed to all the terms, and that he would advise AD Manuel? I was just wondering what was holding things up?

I’ve seen multi-billion dollar deals on Wall Street which took less time to prepare all the legal documents than this simple employment contract extension.

Michigan basketball roster from 1-12

Here are my thoughts about Michigan's basketball roster heading into their last ten regular season games of this season.

1. Hunter Dickinson: Hit a plateau last year, but still can be dominant at times. UM’s best player.

2. Jett Howard: Has all the moves offensively with long range on his shot. Excellent scorer in bunches. Disappears for too long in stretches but he’s young.

3. Kobe Bufkin: Has shown nice overall improvement from last year. Could develop into the top option on offense in the years ahead.

4. Dug McDaniel: About what you would expect for a freshman point guard. Shows nice promise.

5. TWII: Best suited coming off the bench for a tournament team. Not consistent enough offense. Sometimes it looks like he’s coming on but than fades.

6. Tarris Reed Jr.: See McDaniel. Nice upside.

7. Joey Baker: Makes 2-3 buckets every other game. The shot looks good. He’s got to knock more down.

8. Will Tschetter: Looks decent when he’s in there. Not sure why he can’t get more minutes. Coaches must not see it from him in practice.

9. Isaiah Barnes: Haven’t seen much from the redshirt freshman. Looked overwhelmed against Purdue.

10. Youssef Khayat: Yo-yo’s been injured but wasn’t playing at all when he was healthy.

11. Jace Howard: Great enthusiasm & support from the bench over the years. Depth player who’s only been getting spot duty.

12. Greg Glenn III: Hasn’t played in any meaningful spots as a true freshman
