Recruiting Intel: Is Bryce Underwood going to the highest bidder?

One of the major topics surrounding the recruitment of five-star QB Bryce Underwood is that he is looking for 'the bag' and his commitment will go the highest bidder.

On top of my discussion with someone in Underwood's circle about the Colorado visit, I also asked about the NIL narrative and whether it's going to be a factor.

The response I got was so good that trying to summarize it won't do it justice.

Here's what was said:

"I’m going give you the inside visual of what it’s going to take for a school to grab Bryce and money isn’t one of them. The kid just wants to set himself up to be one of the greatest if not the greatest athlete and human being that was ever created. So if a school is throwing money out there to try to attract him I can pretty much tell you they have no shot at getting him, he might not tell them that but trust me, he’s not thinking twice about you or your school. Money won't do it. Now family and what you can offer him to add with furtherance of his future goals is pretty much the key. He wants to set his family up to win right along with him, so it doesn’t make sense if he’s rich and his family still struggling. He’s an old soul in a gifted 16-year-old body.

"That kid will be almost a billionaire by the time he’s 30 so I’m pretty sure trying to be a thousandaire doesn’t have an arm or leg to stand in this fight. So money isn’t a factor and I’m saying this because I know the train that is set up behind him to achieve every goal is set forward."

Great You Tube Videos

In case it hasn’t been mentioned, there’s a series of 5-6 You Tune videos showing the ‘23 team in pre-season activities. A couple have surprising action in the weight room, showing how they’re trained competitively. Their annual trip was featured in one video. Definitely worth watching. If you search for “Michigan football” you’ll find them.

Our every few month check in: In-season edition

For those who have been around here, you know I like to check in with the community to see how things are doing, the direction we’re headed and features you’d like to see.

I’m very excited about the direction of Yahoo and Rivals, the emphasis of growing the Yahoo Sports brand by the brass has been a welcomed addition and much-needed. That’ll trickle down to make Rivals and, in turn, us better as well.

I wish I had more recruiting updates for you all, it’s been VERY quiet and I am always asking for updates. There’s only a few times you can talk to a kid until you’re borderline stalking the young fella lol.

Anyway, how is everything going? Are you guys happy with us and the direction we’re headed?

Always open for suggestions and critiques. We’re all open books here.

As always, appreciate you all. This place is nothing without you all.

Will Michigan go back to ground & pound?

No question Michigan was trying to throw the football more this year and we saw that in the first three games. After last game and now getting into conference play will UM lean more on the running game as they have the last two years?

I think yes UM will go back to what got them in the CFB Playoff the last two years. Less JJ throwing and more Corum & Edwards running.
