Insider Intel: On Uncle T...

Did some asking around about this Uncle T character and what exactly he did to help fund Connor's efforts.

Here's the spin part, we are told that Uncle T did lend Stalions some money but, from Stalions side, the money was used for something completely different and not for his scouting. Continuing to suggest the Air BnB and selling his house route instead of relying on booster money.

There was money exchanged, though. That is true and that's something that is going to be hard to explain away regardless.

Ironic story

I have some friends attending an SEC game this weekend. They're at dinner last night wearing the Michigan stuff and some good Ole boy comes by the table. Nice guy basically says this kind of sign stealing stuff happens down here all the time. "Every booster is a friend of the program and we know what that means. " My friend says what's the going rate for a stud QB? He smiled and said " that boy from Michigan about to find out"

Safe to say my friends knew what he meant.

NCAA Violations & Penalties

Just so everyone has a basis of understanding of the levels of NCAA violations and possible penalties, here are a couple of graphics.

Definition of an NCAA Violations…

Penalties for NCAA Violations

You can make your own calculations of how many violations have been charged against Michigan but remain open and not settled by the Committee on Infractions, plus how many more might result from the sign-stealing allegations.

Fox wants to interview Harbaugh from the hotel if he can't coach at Maryland.

"Excuse me, Jenny. Room service just arrived".

However, if Harbaugh’s suspension is upheld for Michigan’s Week 12 game versus Maryland and the coach is left to watch his team from a hotel again, Fox Sports wants to make sure he is still part of the Big Noon Saturday telecast.

Fox reporter Jenny Taft appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday and explained that she wanted to interview Harbaugh from the hotel where he was staying while Michigan played Penn State.

The Wolverines said no, but part of that decision was likely based on the team not knowing whether Harbaugh would be available until shortly before kickoff.

I came into this basketball season with no expectations

so I am still intrigued by the positives to start the season.
Dug is a star.
Nkamhoua needed to make the jump from role player to impact player, and so far it looks like he will be able to do that.

But man, free throws, boxing out, defense in general. Just low-hanging fruit stuff. Long way to go, excited to see what happens when coach is back, but that's not the kind of loss you want on your tourney resume.

Uncle T speaks and me thinks he might be fibbing

Look at these quotes.

“I can give you good news,” Smith said during a 30-minute phone call with Yahoo Sports. “I don’t recognize being known as ‘Uncle T’ and I will refute that myself. I never funded Connor. To say I knew him is perhaps overstating it. I said hi to him. I’ve spoken to him more since he left Michigan to make sure the young man is OK.”
Also from the story ,,, "Smith has spoken to Stalions multiple times since he resigned from the university after news of the scheme emerged. Smith said that the two are not close and that he knew him “as well as any other staff person” in the university’s football program."

ummm what ??? why would he be speaking to him "multiple times" after he resigned if saying he knew him is over stating things ??? More crazy ??

Reduce the Suspension

If this is how the story ends… it’s so stupid.

Comically dumb. Conor Stalions with funding from a booster for a rinky dink plan to find a competitive advantage with a loophole in scouting?
If that’s all this ends up being… if that was the story from the get go, people would’ve stopped caring after a couple days.

Lack of oversight on Michigan. Sure.

Breaking the spirit of the rule. Sure.

Were games ANY games decided by this hair brained scheme? No.

The three game suspension looks DRAMATICALLY heavy handed in this light.

We got played like a fiddle. But Jim missing the OSU game because of THIS “scandal”???

Punishment doesn’t fit the crime. At all.

Harbaugh to the NFL

I truly believe that Jim was ready to sign his extension a couple weeks ago. But since then He’s had to accept the three game suspension which includes him missing the game and Michigan’s 1000th win and has now had to fire a coach for impeding an investigation. Now it’s being reported by Josh that the contract will be on hold until the notice of allegations is given. If you think that is going to be anytime soon you’re crazy, as the Chris Partridge situation opens up a whole new situation that has to be investigated.

I’m not saying that Harbaugh wants to leave Michigan. What I am saying is it will be well into the off-season before a contract extension is signed and as more and more information comes out it gets worse and worse for Michigan. By mid January a $12MM offer from the NFL and leaving all this behind would have to be pretty appealing to Jim. I really hope I’m wrong.

Athletic Department Donations

I have no idea, but my guess is that donations were incredibly high the last 10 days. Maybe a record. I was going to write a check until yesterday. After understanding why they settled, I am going to do so now. Michigan against the world is good business. We are strong when united. For the first time, we showed some spine. I will rally around that. Go Blue! Muck Connor Stallions. However, I still think we have a strong legal argument on the rules.
