Julian Lewis reclassifying to 25 - ranked ahead of Bryce

This may not play any role in our QB recruiting what so ever but thought it was interesting that Lewis' reclassification to '25 may shift some things elsewhere. At a minimum if he stays at USC we'll be playing him.

Insider Intel: On the Chargers' pursuit of Jim Harbaugh

Yesterday, as I said that Jim Harbaugh was in California for a non-football-related trip, it was assumed that he was going to kill two birds with one stone and meet with the Chargers while he was out there. A meeting between the Chargers will take place today. I don't have a timeframe or anything like that.

The more I speak to people, the more I very much see this as an interview and not a simple discussion about the job.

I also get the sense that Harbaugh is high up on the priority board for the Chargers, too. Enough to where I've been told that the Chargers plan to roll out the red carpet for him during the visit.

The big question remains, can the Chargers give everything Harbaugh wants? That I cannot answer. Harbaugh does have someone in his corner within the organization, Michael Spanos II, whom Harbaugh coached at Stanford. While he doesn't hold a position with enough influence to make a decision, he's a special advisor in business operations, and he is the son of the owner and Vice Chairman Michael Spanos.

Again, just because there is support within the organization does not mean that all hope is lost.

I don't expect an immediate decision to be made from the Chargers, nor Harbaugh for that matter, as the organization has more interviews to conduct this week, including one on Friday.

Do I view the Chargers as a threat? Absolutely.

Has Michigan's chances taken a hit? Not necessarily.

Let's talk Michigan...

I continue to get the sense that the preference for Harbaugh is to stay in Ann Arbor but there is certainly some nervousness about the Chargers, especially if they're willing to give Harbaugh what he wants.

It's never been about jumping at the first team that wants him, it has to be the perfect opportunity. The talent in LA is certainly there, can the organization make promises to give him the assistance he needs in the process? Not sure.

We have heard that U-M has made some concessions with the for-cause termination wording in Harbaugh's contract regarding the NCAA. I know it has been discussed on the boards that the current contract is "unsignable in its current form" coming out of the weekend but I cannot speak to that. I don't know if that is factual or just pro-Jim people that he is close with stating it as an opinion.

I can also say that Harbaugh has reiterated his preference to stay in Ann Arbor as recently as this weekend to people he is close with.

In short, I don't see this concluding relatively soon and a lot has to do with how the meeting with the Chargers goes and how much they're willing to give Harbaugh what he wants. There's no denying he is very high on their list of candidates. Harbaugh will have a decision to make and is often unpredictable.

Michigan is still there and working with Harbaugh. It's coming down to Harbaugh weighing his NFL options and going from there, that's much is abundantly clear.

No need to include language in the contract that he can't pursue the NFL if the talks pick back up outside of the hiring window, right?

Personal opinion, I'm willing to reassess my thought process if I hear more coming out of the meeting with the Chargers. If U-M dodges another NFL bullet and nothing comes out of this, I get the sense that the likelihood of him sticking around Ann Arbor increases tenfold.

If you pay attention to Vegas odds, Michigan is still the betting favorite for Harbaugh's return.

Again, we'll see what happens.

There’s always another shoe to drop - the OTHER contract sticking point

According to Dan Wetzel’s article detailing the contract sticking points, including “immunity” from for-cause termination over the existing NCAA investigations - and also this interesting nugget.

As some of us have said - Jim wanted the NFL all along and there’s nothing anyone could do about it.

Harbaugh is also seeking a delay in the start date of the new contract to maintain a lower buyout that NFL teams would have to pay Michigan to hire him away. The buyout in his current contract dropped from $2.25 million to $1.5 million on January 11. Michigan is seeking that to rise to about $4 million in a new deal. Harbaugh has sought to have the new deal not start until Feb. 15, thus maintaining the lower, and more favorable, buyout number until after the NFL hiring cycle has concluded.

Alex Orji in 2024 (If JJ goes.)….

Don’t be surprised if we all find out that Monster of a QB can really sling the rock next season. Remember, Daniels was considered by EVERYONE as just a running QB until he transferred to LSU and played himself into maybe the No. 2 in the draft.

I expect him to win the QB1 position and, with Mullins, Edwards, and the plethora of RBs we have, they break the rushing yards record for a Michigan season while he throws for over 2,000 yards and 20+ TDs. The coaches love the kid and he is Josh Allen-esque in size and talent.

Im calling it now…IF JJ goes.

Athletic Article

Last week’s article in The Athletic paints a scarier picture regarding Jim Harbaugh’s fit as their new head coach. It also quotes their owner who says they will be taking their time in making a decision. The writer even pairs JH with a general manager thought to be someone who would work well with him. The article suggests someone with good NFL personnel experience, who as it turns out actually works for JH at Michigan.

After reading the article I was left a whole lot more nervous about this being a situation that could be attractive enough to Harbaugh to tempt him to leave Ann Arbor.

Here’s the article. It doesn’t appear to be pay-walled.

Vivid Seats, Stub Hub, Ticketmaster, Seat Geek, GameTime - what is your take on which app is best for ticket prices?

I saw a new ticket app who claimed no fees. But they jacked up the price by 20%. I used Vivid for the Rose Bowl...they transferred to my ticketmaster account. I also used Vivid for my Rose Bowl parking pass, which was highly recommended. I'm looking at two seats at Washington on 10/5 for $395. But there is a $133 fee per ticket, taking the pair over $1,000. Which I am willing to pay, but $270 in fees makes me want to take a shower...feels like slimy business.

I am here to eat crow !

I predicted that JJ and JH were coming back. I even stated it was a no-brainer and I was almost certain that once the NCAA stuff blew over the contract would have been signed.

Well, I was wrong on all 3. I still think JH signs and stays, I mean unless he's already told the team and admin but everyone is holding it close to the chest. I keep faith that he signs, I think we need 1-2 more years to solidify a dynasty
