Better portal strategy: Up transfer who has produced? Or $250,000 for a guy like Amorion Walker who didn't play at a top 10 program?

I think that the strategy for the portal is up transfers who have produced. And by UP I mean guys like Hausmann, Stewart who were underclassmen at lower tiered schools, or grad transfers at, lesser P5 programs, Group of 5 programs or other DI programs, like Olu, Barner, Nugent, Wallace etc.

When you look at what other teams have done it the portal, do you really subscribe to their philosophy? I know everybody is drooling over Ohio State's portal action...and I think the jury is still out on that strategy. If they paid a ransom for new guys, I think that breeds a culture that diminishes something from the football side.

Folks were once mad at Michigan for losing Walter Nolen to the greatest recruiting class ever paid for, which crumbled in a year. I'm very interested in knowing what smart folks with forethought think of some of this portal money and what it will yield for teams.

There also should be a tracker for broken NIL money promises.

Sherrone Moore contract details

Sherrone Moore has signed a 5-year contract to become the next head coach at Michigan.
The contract will pay him $5.5M in year 1 and increase by at least $500K yearly, but incentives could bring that number above $9M.

Insider One name I hear Moore has made contact with but don't expect much traction...

DeMarco Murray. Running backs coach at Oklahoma.

The two have obvious Sooner connections and I was told that a conversation about the RB job took place but I am not expecting much to come of it, to be honest.

Murray just received a contract extension through 2025 recently and is being paid over 600k. Money isn't the problem, though, as he's turned down multiple higher-paying offers, including one from USC, to stay in Norman.

From our Oklahoma sources, they wouldn't be surprised if the two did speak but the expectation is that Murray is perfectly happy in Oklahoma and the only way he'd leave the program is to get back into TV. He's doing this job for the love of being back involved in the game of football.

Either way, it's encouraging to see Moore swinging for the fences.

Minter

Pure speculation on my part but maybe Minter is waiting to see what McDonald does. If he gets a head coaching job, then Minter would be likely
successor at Baltimore considering he coached there before. The Chargers are a salary cap mess and not a good defensive team maybe sticking
with Michigan another year and waiting to see what McDonald does in 2025 is better option

Where does "the buck stop" in Michigan's Athletic Department?

There are always lots of reasons and justifications when coaches leave. In one administration we have lost the second-best baseball coach, best basketball coach, and best football coach in my 66 year lifetime. I'll get over it as all Michigan fans must, but a little Harry Truman attitude about accepting responsibility would make me feel a tiny bit better about the Athletic Department. I won't hold my breath.

Players, coaches, and more react to Sherrone Moore being named HC

Current and former players, coaches, and more took to social media to share their reactions to the news that Sherrone Moore had been named the next head coach for Michigan Football.
Needless to say, the move is widely supported.

Insider Intel: On Jim Harbaugh's meeting with the players...

Jim Harbaugh met with the team this afternoon to say his farewells.

Was told that it was both a happy and sad meeting and it went as well as it could've gone considering the circumstances. The energy was very high. In a good way, of course. The major takeaway was that Harbaugh told everybody in attendance that Sherrone Moore was the best pick for the job.

Just out of curiosity

Has the NCAA conducted coaches interviews on the sign stealing? Last I knew they were going to get to the coaches after the natty. But if Jim, minter and others leave would they not be obligated to cooperate with the investigation since it is not a criminal case? 🤔 not sure if this has been talked about and I was thinking it would kind of be hilarious if they don't get those interviews in now and have to make a judgment based on what is already known.

On Kevin Werner's post (sorry Josh, probably creating more work for you)

The fact that Josh knew he had to turn off comments on that thread speaks volumes. To be clear: I'm not throwing shade at Josh or any of the mods. They do a great job and I appreciate them for what they've done in this medium. But mannnnn some of you are f*cking clowns. Kevin presents some great perspective on ANOTHER reason to be proud of this school and some of you can't get help but get deep in your bag of bullsh*t.
