What NOA’s Remain Unsettled?

After watching the Netflix “Sign Stealer” piece, I was left wondering which NOA’s against Michigan coaches and staff remain unadjudicated?

We know there was a negotiated settlement covering the impermissible recruiting and coaching violations. Then there was another negotiated settlement covering allegations against all but two ex-coaches who are now with NFL teams. The Netflix piece said that the NCAA proposed a 4- game show cause order to settle Harbaugh’s NOA, and another 3-game show cause to settle Connor Stalions’ violations.

So by my count there are NOAs against 4 Michigan coaches, two active and two former coaches, which remain open and unsettled.

What about any institutional NOAs? I think I’ve read that there are two Level I institutional NOAs—one associated with sign-stealing and another for loss of institutional control.

What is the “count” of unsettled NOAs against Michigan or former Michigan coaches? The two institutional Level I’s are particularly concerning because they would open the entire list of possible NCAA penalties, including vacating games and championships, limitation of future post-season play, scholarships, recruiting limitations, fines and even worse, available for use against Michigan.

Who has an accurate count?

Valenti at it again

Truly amazing. Valenti again talking about michigan punishment. Throwing around vacating wins and title. Says not probable but would be fair and his little UM “fan” David nodding along. The UM fan David even said moore should get fired and a show cause. !!! It’s amazing to me that these morons continue to think that this was the biggest cheating scandal in history. It’s truly breath taking. Man. They are gonna be so disappointed.

This frustrated me with Wetzel

Have to vent, because this is why people think every one is out to get Michigan.

One, I felt his comments in the documentary were far less cynical about Michigan compared to what we've seen in his reporting and in podcasts. He played up the most important part, they won without Stalions and proved it didn't matter.

Two, at one point in the documentary he says they decided to investigate how prevalent the sign stealing was. He talks about filing FOIA requests and looking into "known sign stealers." Now, not only do we know they have estimated 80-90% of teams have a designated sign stealer who does this work primarily, but Wetzel says in the documentary that they found five schools that were doing "the same thing", implying sending people to games. Also suggests if the NCAA dug into it more it would be far worse, that the sign stealing culture in college football is out of control essentially.

So....why do all the journalistic work, investigation, filing FOIA requests, etc to find out information like that and not report it? Why were the the other five schools not ever reported? Similar with the Washington Post reporter, why is no interested in revealing more about the third party firm and who paid them?

Even if I pretend I'm not a Michigan fan, this seems absurd. If I'm a Michigan State fan and I think this is the worst scandal in the history of college football and you're telling me its wide spread and you know about five other schools??? Who are they?

Insider On Mason Graham…

Wink Martindale mentioned last night that Mason Graham had been banged up.

I know it probably raises some eyebrows but by all accounts it hasn’t impacted his availability much. Perhaps you’ll see his name appear on the availability report this weekend and if he doesn’t play it’s purely precautionary by the staff.

Concern level is low right now.

Insider INTEL: On Dom Giudice

Some significant momentum right now for Dominick Giudice to take the starting job from both Greg Crippen and Raheem Anderson. Was told this over the weekend along with the Evan Link news but wanted to wait and see what Sherrone Moore said about the center job to talk more about it.

He confirmed it's down to Greg Crippen and Giudice, which is a bit of a surprise considering how well Raheem Anderson has been performing in camp.

"Still got a battle at center, and really it's three guys, but really it's gone down to two with Crippen and Dom Giudice."

Giudice has REALLY impressed during fall camp so this is not an example of two guys underperforming and underwhelming. It would not shock me at all if Link and Giudice are two of the big surprises on the offensive line come Saturday.

Now, could this be a giant smokescreen to throw off the scent for Fresno State? Of course. But the way that Sherrone has acknowledged both guys has me feel like there's something to it.

We'll see on Saturday.

Insider On the QBs…

I am essentially preparing for both scenarios to play out as to who is the starter.

Again, it comes down to it depends on who you ask when it comes to who will get the start. One contingent is adamant it’s Davis Warren, the other contingent is Alex Orji has done more than enough to be the guy.

I do get the sense there’s a little gamesmanship from Michigan’s side to their own here as they’re trying very hard to not have a decision leak out. Some head fakes and smokescreens abound.

I do know that Sherrone has not told a QB who it will be yet and that will quickly leak out, I’m sure.

There is a rumor going around that Warren is QB1 on the latest depth chart posted but we haven’t gotten anything concrete, it’s the same depth chart that lists Evan Link as the starter at RT.

Whether both guys see the field is another discussion in itself, as no one has been able to get anything of substance.

Submarine is still fully submerged so I’ll be curious to see what happens.
