Charlie Baker - NCAA Open to Trump's Commission on Collegiate Athletics

Not a political statement - just observing that Charlie has to be open to this because it is how the NCAA might survive - "I'm up for anything"

Clearly, the Death by a 1,000 Lawsuits is not suiting Mr. Baker and the Association

I was watching the "Locked On B1G", the host Greg Shemon

said we will have a 20 team play off.

So I thought I'd consider all the possible play off teams and include all of the possible play in games as play off games as well.

I ask, is it 16, 20, 24 or 28 play off teams total?

The B1G & SEC 1 & 2 receive a play in game byes. 4 teams total
The B1G & SEC has 3 vs 6 & 4 vs 5 for their 2 play in games for auto bid spots 3 & 4 giving them 8 teams total in the B1G & SEC play in games.

ACC & Big 12 has 2 play in games each with 1 vs 4 & 2 vs 3 for 8 teams total in the ACC & Big 12.

G5 top team, is their conference championship game considered a play in game,
I do not believe it would be. The top G5 receives their auto bid.

This leaves 3 at large bids.

Technically the B1G & SEC has 6 play off teams each for 12 teams. While the ACC & Big 12
will have 4 play in teams each for 8 teams. 12 + 8 is 20, 1 G5 & 3 at large teams total 24 teams total.
B1G -6 teams, SEC - 6 teams, ACC - 4 teams, Big 12 - 4 teams, G5 - 1 team and 3 at-large teams = 24 team play off essentially.

Now this is where it gets very interesting IMHO.

Once FOX, CBS, NBC, ESPN see how lucrative the play in games are, it will only be a matter of time when 2 more play in games will be added to the B1G & SEC with 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 8 teams total for each the B1G & SEC. Adding 4 more teams to the 24 teams counted above to make it in all actuality a 28 team play off bringing a financial windfall to the media partners and the conferences.

Am I wrong? Just asking.

Why Do *YOU* Think OSU Fans Are So Obsessed With '23?

Question: Why do *YOU* think OSU fans are so obsessed with "the hammer," Michigan's National Championship, etc.? It's out of control.

Do you think they'd be as obsessed if they beat Michigan the past 2 years (even if Michigan wins the '23 championship)?

I have my theories, but I'm interested in what the board thinks. I find it to be absolutely insane behavior. When OSU was beating Michigan, I was trying like heck to AVOID thinking about OSU - why focus on something that obviously wouldn't make me happy, right?

Anyone who watched the 2021 Michigan game knows that feeling was shared in every Michigan fan until Haskins scored his 5th TD. The reason why that end of game scene is what it is...is because of the snow, but also the collective EXHALE and RELIEF.

Meanwhile OSU fans seem to be rolling around in their misery. Plugging their ears with their fingers while overwhelming noise of Michigan's run plays at a max level inches away from their faces.

Strange behavior. But the difference in how each fanbase has handled being on the losing end...contrasts more than blue put next to red (err - scarlet).

!+[Here’s Way To Watch] Nuggets vs Thunder live 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 Tv Channel 18 May 2025

Live coverage of the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA game on ESPN, including live score, highlights and updated stats. Where to watch OKC Thunder vs Denver Nuggets today in NBA Playoffs · TV: ABC · Livestream: ESPN+ (here's how to stream it live). How to watch the Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Playoffs today · NBA Streaming Options · WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFFS.
The postseason brings some great matchups and exciting moments, but nothing tops Game 7. The two MVP frontrunners, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic, will duel it out one last time this season to see which superstar player will be advancing to the Western Conference Finals.

Denver has the experience on their side, having won a championship two seasons ago, but Oklahoma City has the youth and depth. The Thunder were the better team during the regular season, but that does not mean a whole lot in a do-or-die game other than the fact that they will have home-court advantage on their side.

Jokic's dominance has been on full display as he has averaged 29.8 points and 14.7 rebounds over the first six games, while Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 28.8 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds. It may come down to which of the two has the bigger Game 7 performance.

This is a great NBA matchup that will not disappoint; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.

Recruiting INTEL: A commit that may not stick...

Login to view embedded media Michigan currently has four commits in the Class of 2026, and five of them are currently locked in with the program: Four-star QB Brady Smigiel, four-star slot WR Jaylen Pile, 4-star IOL Bear McWhorter and 3-star EDGE Tariq Boney. However, I have some concerns in regards the fifth commit, 4-star CB Brody Jennings.

SEC powerhouses Florida and Georgia are pushing to flip the 6'1" 175-pounder from Michigan, in fact, UGA's DB coach Donte Williams was in Jacksonville yesterday visiting Jennings in his home.

I heard from sources early this year that he was 100% locked in with the Wolverines, however, those same sources are no longer offering the same confidence. Jennings is definitely to keep an eye on in the coming months, particularly given that he has scheduled an on official visit to Gainesville for June 6th-8th and will presumably also schedule one to Athens.

Brody's father, Brad, was also notably a linebacker for Florida State. Thus, the Seminoles are another school I'm watching out for in this recruitment.

I know we’re not a mom-focused site…

But just wanted to take a moment to recognize the mom’s on this board and those who allow us to post on a message board all day regardless.

To the mom’s, wives, sister’s, grandma’s and everything else in between, thank you for everything. We recognize you.

And to those who are celebrating the memory of someone passed on, I hope you find comfort in the memories today.

Enjoy the day with your loved ones!

**2025 WNBA Thread**

See if we can draw up enough interest to chat about some women's hoops around here.

Blockbuster deal going down in the WNBA. Kelsey Plum heading to LA to play with Dearica Hamby & Cameron Brink. Jewel Loyd to the Aces.

@ConqueringHero You watching this random 3x3 league they created? I'm not sure my increased interest in women's hoops is ready to take on another league. This feels like over expansion. It's not competing against the WNBA in the summer, but it's still competing against women's college hoops.

TO ACESJewell Loyd
No. 13 pick in '25 (from LA)
TO SPARKSKelsey Plum
No. 9 pick in '25 (from Sea)
'26 2nd-rounder (from Sea)
TO STORMNo. 2 pick in '25 (from LA)

Level 1 violations

I know many of us are tired of talking about this and frankly I am too, but I’ve seen a lot of people misinformed about the Level 1 violations we face.

Okay so the level 1 violations we face in the NOA are:

Jim Harbaugh for non-compliance

Chris Partridge for obstructing the investagation

Denard Robinson for recruiting benefts

Connor Stalions for advanced scouting AND failing to cooperate

Michigan for pattern of non-compliance and failure to monitor

That means that 5 of the 6 level 1 violations are to individuals with stallions facing 2 level 1s. We’ll likely see showcauses to Denard, Partridge, Jim, and Stallions for those level 1s. The only level 1 against the school is the pattern of non-compliance. That’ll likely be a large fine and recruiting restrictions. Maybe scholarships reduced as well. I think the Sherrone suspension is our biggest concern which is a level 2. We’ll see if the ncaa agrees to the self imposed punishment or if they want more

Something to discuss/consider…

There is talk that the two-game suspension Sherrone Moore is serving is a negotiated one between Michigan and the NCAA.

I am working on confirming this and not sure I can considering everything is still active in terms of negotiations but I have heard it from people I trust.

I will see what I can find out but it would make sense to me considering the odd timing of when the suspensions are taking place. We’ll see if the NCAA wants to tack on more or what.
