Thoughts on NIL.....

Since Champions Circle launched "those who stay" this years version of "one more year thought it appropriate to throw out some thoughts.

Their goal is $1 million. As of an hour ago they had already raised over $111k. I love this campaign. It gives everyone a chance to donate to a collective to help keep a competitive team on the field. This is how NIL can be sustainable. There are over 650k active alumni members and approximately 4.5 million in the overall fanbase. If each person on average gave $10 each year that's $45 million a year. Imagine if people gave up 1 Starbucks a month at $7 or $84 a year at 4 million fans that's $336 million dollars.

Other thoughts on NIL. Michigan sold over 90k season tickets last year. Lets remove 20k for broke students. That leaves 70k. My question is why when the AD sends out our notices to renew our season tickets they can't have a link to the collectives for us to donate to, On average if everyone gives an additional $100 that's $7 million for just football. For our 2 seats its $1375 per tickets for a donation to the AD plus $2800 for the tickets themselves. That's $5500 for 2 season tickets. I understand most people don't pay that much but its still a tidy sum to pay. My question is what's another $100 to keep a great team on the field? If people use their season tickets to make money by scalping them then add an extra $15 per ticket to your scalped price. Problem solved. You're making money off the product on the filed. Your tickets are all but worthless if the team goes 6-6.

People talk about the large donors should put up the bulk of the NIL $$$. They also talk about how there isn't much ROI when it comes to NIL deals. People on here expect the "big donors" to foot the bill for their enjoyment. Some of the collectives will take a $10 donation. give what you can. Drop your On3 and 247 memberships and donate that money to an NIL collective. If a large donor wants to give more nobody would stop them. There is an amount for all of us that the ROI is a great football team we get to watch every Saturday from Sept to January.

I'm not smart enough to wade through all the NIL rules but I'm sure the attorney types could tell us if the university can put up a link when we buy our season tickets. Or people like @Section_6 or @Anison
could tell me what's wrong with my suggestions.

When Schlissel was in charge he was more interested in academics and rightfully so but he truly didn't understand was the impact of football and all college sports has on academics. Take football about 20 student tickets were sold. Those kids didn.t jus come to Michigan to get a great education but also to get a great college experience. That means with all sports its safe to say 50% of all students will attend some sort of sporting event each year. These are the future donors who want to see great football being played in the Big House. The academic types do not realize how much realize how much those students experience at Michigan will affect future donations.

Now the onus is on Ono as well as the AD to figure out how to promote NIL as well as prepare for revenue sharing.. In the mean timne we all must do what we can to continue to raise money for these great players so we can continue to win championships.

GO BLUE

MICHIGAN WINS

Holy hell these Washington fans are aholes

Checked into a Marriott. Nothing amazing but nice. Ordered dinner and talking to my daughter back home in Michigan in the lobby Here comes two drunk UW guys. Asking about CS and we aren't that good and the asterisk. I am luck seriously I have been here 20 minutes I am about to punch out two tree huggers from Washington. Just smiled and kept talking to daughter on video. My daughter who's 11 and thinks her dad Superman says really loud. Dad just like karate class throat punch them. I laughed and the guy heard her. I hang up he said what does that mean. I said sometimes you just talk to much to the wrong people. He and his 500 pound friends waddled away. Crist it's going to be long 36 hours.

Something that is crazy to get my head wrapped around about our DEs is

That despite a killer start by McGregor and what Harrell did on the last play vs. OSU, that UM went with it's 2nd wave and trusted them on that last play. It was Moore and Stewart in the game and we trusted them to clinch it and they both made a play. When you can trust your second wave as much as your starters....that's depth.

People talk so much about UM's offense, and it is clear and obvious that Michigan can win games on defense too. A pack of beasts with the number 1 defense in the country. I loved seeing all the negative plays vs. Bama.

“Defying Recruiting Logic “ Michigan and

Washington
Interesting read that we’ve seen debated here for years
Our approach has some merit clearly based on results

Basketball On Martelli serving as head coach today...

It was Juwan's decision out of respect for Phil returning to his hometown of Philadelphia and coaching at the Palestra.

"In an amazing & classy move, Juwan Howard asked Phil Martelli to serve as Michigan’s head coach for the Wolverines game against the Nittany Lions at the Palestra and in his hometown of Philadelphia"

LIVE THREAD: Michigan vs. Penn State

Michigan is at The Palestra in Philadelphia today as it takes on Penn State. Phil Martelli will coach today's game, a decision made by Juwan Howard.

Same starting five as usual for Michigan:

McDaniel
Burnett
Williams
Nkamhoua
Reed

Am I just overly optimistic or...

I feel nervous.. because I am NOT nervous?

I feel like we win this game by 14. Like I am getting serious OSU vs. Oregon 2014 vibes.

Washington’s defense is literally terrible by every statistical ranking

They won’t really have their RB - yes I know he'll play but give me a break.

Yes Penix is sick but… so?

They can’t really stop the run and their pass defense is worse than Indiana.

Michigan 34 - 20

and before anyone says it... YES I know we can lose if we turn the ball over 4 times like TCU - but you could pretty much say that for any game ever.

What am I missing? I don’t want to be overconfident but idk man. I hope not to be let down but I feel VERY confident about a Michigan win.

Thoughts? Takes? Am I underselling UW?
