A little something for the over the top....

....kill the refs...the refs lost us that game typ e people.

My wife and I have a lot of friends in the world of sports. Many who officiate games of all sports. Because of those relationships we have access to not only a lot of sporting events but also some great stories. This is not one of those threads about a great story.

What we have heard here in Minneapolis is about refs getting all kinds of death threats and in the stands fans screaming all kinds of vile crap!

DEATH THREATS
..are you shitin me?! It's a damn game not life and death. The refs are human they make mistakes. People do not realize what a thankless job being a ref is yet these men and women put their hearts and souls into how they make a living.

If you ever get the priviledge to get a tour of B1G HQ ..DO IT. The control room there has a lot of TVs that are solely for watching every call made in every game. Refs are graded on their performance and get that grade almost immediately after their games. According to those evaluations the refs blew 2 calls in one game yesterday and 4 in the other. Thats amazing!

My wife and I are fans which is short for FANATICS but never to the point we would wish or threaten harm to another person because they made a bad frickin call.

So, as a fan base complaining about officiating is a right of passage taking it to far is unacceptable! People need to think before they hide behind their keyboards... text or open that thing between their nose and their chin. These are human beings not robots. They have families and chose a profession that nobody really should want.

Society has gotten out of control and it's because of the internet. People are stupid enough to buy into all kinds of conspiracy theories. Well news flash...rigging college basketball games is by far one the top all time stupid conspiracy theories!

People have been so programmed that "everything is rigged" they honestly believe "everything is rigged". Well it's not. All refs are scrutinized nonstop. It's all but impossible for them to fix games.

And please no stupid articles about games being fixed. The amount of proven games being fixed is so miniscule they are insignificant.

Crisler Would Be Rockin’…

I’m watching the Iowa State vs Houston Big12 championship game. If we played defense like Iowa State does, we’d have been at least .500 this season. It looks to me like it’s mostly conditioning and effort. Fun to watch. Of course it reminds me of John Belein-coached Michigan teams.

I’ve also concluded that as much as I admire Juwan, he could never get a team to play with that much effort and discipline. That’s just not the way they play D in the NBA. After the 25 years JH spent in the League, why would we think he could coach a team to play like that? Sadly, not giving him another year was the correct decision.

FINAL: Iowa State blew Houston out of the gym. 69-41.. They had 9 steals, 3 blocked shots and 7 turnovers. They held Houston to 27% shooting, only 18% for threes. Iowa State absolutely dominated a pretty good Houston team.

The young Iowa State coach has just become my favorite. If he got Michigan to play like that, Crisler would be rockin’

Spring Position Breakdown: Safety

What an offseason for the Michigan safety room. Rod Moore and Makari Paige return with 77 games of experience. Keon Sabb transfers and then Quinten Johnson returns!
The group is led by veterans, but two young stars are ready to break out.

Academics OT: To the Denizens of Michigan’s Academia Culture…this will crack up the old crowd..

I have a lot of regret of blowing up my career over an accusation of another student of plagiarism where I had the goods and was supported by professors and other grad students alike, yet I lost because the school chose the money of the accused over the merit of my hardwork that was stolen and used verbatim. I’m sure most of you have seen my unique writing style that no sane person can replicate. It was blatantly obvious and yet I was denied justice. I quit the program on the spot, with only my thesis presentation and defense to finish for my degree. I often wonder how different things might have been if I played the game and didn’t make waves. I know for sure I would have published frequently. I lost my love for writing after that day, and in 25 years I’ve only contributed in 3 book projects. I’m doing pretty well in my new found job of contract work doing primary data mining and writing a 10,000 word (about 20 pages) report with an analytical summation and prediction of the future trends related to the research. I get to break some rules by obtaining information a basic “restricted“ clearance is not supposed to see. Still, I viewed the world of Academia as my true calling..

That is until I found and started reading the posts on this posting board..lol. Is it really like the topics say it is these days? Well then it’s a good thing I never went back because there were 3 threads on the 1sr page I would have shot a dude in the face from the shite being pulled today. Dear Lucifer…society is dumbing down at an alarming rate.

Anyway..if you want to spend an hour laughing your ass off one moment and shaking your head in disbelief the next, here is the link:

Recruiting Quick recruiting bit…

New S&C coach Justin Tress was able to stretch his recruiting wings for the first time since he was hired and, by all accounts, he did a fantastic job.

Take four-star LB Luke Metz for example. The weight room was one of the highlights of his visit and he really appreciated Tress’ no-nonsense approach.

“It was great! He really is one of the best out there! He doesn’t have a recruiting pitch that’s the good thing he just seriously shows how they work and what they do. It sells itself.“

Darian DeVries

- Spent 17 years as an assistant at Creighton, first under Dana Altman and then Greg McDermott.

- Took over as head coach at Drake in 2018 and in 6 seasons has finished 1st, 2nd (4x) and 8th (his second season) in the MVC.

- NCAA tourney first round win in 2021 was the program’s first in 50 years.

- Widely considered a master tactician.

- The first coach to lead Drake to consecutive 20-win seasons, including a program record 18-0 start two seasons ago.

Drake men’s hoops from 1972-2018:
