Big Ten Wrestling semi-finals…

Are currently being broadcast on BTN. So far Michigan has done very well. They put 8 (of a possible 10) in the semifinals. So far they are 3-2 in the semis with Ragusin (133), Gomez (149), and Lewan (157) all advancing to the finals. Griffith (174), Bullock (184), and Davidson (HWT) still have to wrestle.

Deaugstino, Lemley, and Amine are all still alive in the consolation bracket. All nine wrestlers have qualified for the NCAA tournament. The team is currently sitting in second place.

Can He recruit the Portal ?

This is the question that seems at the center of any coaching search and (unfortunately) a central element of the next five years of CBB. A significant question is whether a mid major coach can who has enjoyed success recruiting and developing at a lesser level can effectively recruit transitionary talent for transfers. Not sure it’s an obvious skill set….

Insider Will have more practice Intel tomorrow…

But a quick note. Full pads today, no tackling.

However, was told that Jadyn Davis had a really good day today and was told by one spectator that he could be a factor “at some point”.

One more bonus note because I love you all. Wink knows his way around the field, Jesse Minter spent the first hour of practice standing next to him.

I'm intentionally excluding Rumeal, Poole, Higgins and Burke games.

Looking to dig into the memory banks and dig up and old favorite that may have been forgotten.

I'm going '93 UCLA. Down big at halftime. Awesome 2H and an underrated performance by Ray Jackson.

M beesball beats Toledo 7-6 in 12 innings.

Barr had a nice game in relief to gain the win going 6 innings.

11 runs were scored in the first three innings and 1 the rest of the way until the 12th. Kim looked to jamb his hand sliding into firat base on a play and was removed from the game. Never saw the real benefit of doing that even when Chet Lemon did it. Hopefully, it isn't serious and he'll be back soon. M needs his bat.

Sorry to take this thread in a different direction, but Michigan plays a different brand of baseball than we saw a few years ago.

Here's a perfect example i found reading a box score for Clemson vs UNC Greensboro game over the weekend. it was a 3-3 game in the 7th inning.
Clemson had the bases loaded with 1 out. Jarren Purify (Freshman from Detroit) at bat. This is the line in the play-by-play box score.

PURIFY grounded out to p, SAC, bunt, 2 RBI.

How do you get 2 RBI's on a bunt to the pitcher? Simple. Bakich ball. with runners on second and third UNC intentionally walked the next batter to set up a double play and pitch to freshman Purify. What does Bakich call? a double squeeze play and Purify executed it perfectly, allowing two runs to score on the play.

I watched all of the M vs Toledo game and saw us ground into a base loaded double play. Throughout the game, Do we hit and run? Not that I saw. Do we try and steal a base? we did one and twice were thrown out. Do we try and put any pressure on the opposing defense? not often. Maybe the players don't make enough contact. Even when M was trying to put down a bunt to move a runner into scoring position in an extra inning, we couldn't get it down. SMH. Not the same baseball. And some wonder why we look back fondly. We may have lost game, but at least we were awake in the stands.

Good win for the team though... Toledo had a 6-1 lead at one point. M fought back. eventually won.

This weekend San Diego comes in for three games. First home series before traveling to Ypsi to play EMU on Tuesday and to Happy Valley next weekend for three with PSU.
