The portal window for undergrads is closed

While Michigan had SOME losses, I think they came out of this really well considering the program had an extra window to navigate with Harbaugh’s departure.

Grad transfers have an extra 24 hours to enter, by the way, so that takes away a layer of concern throughout the summer.

No, the checks aren’t bouncing. No, a mass exodus or fear of one didn’t happen. If some, not all, depth pieces want to chase the bag, that’s fine.

Not trying to do a victory lap or anything like that, just don’t fall for the bullshit for clicks. I know it sounds crass but that’s what it is, bullshit.

Insider Intel: Latest transfer portal rumblings

Been asking around about the latest transfer portal rumblings for Michigan.

As a reminder, the transfer portal window for undergrad closed at midnight, graduate transfers get an extra 24 hours. This window is specifically for those ENTERING the portal, there is no window for additions.

After being offered by the program this week, the expectation is that momentum is going to carry in favor of the Wolverines for Youngstown State receiver C.J. Charleston.

The 6-footer had 467 yards and 4 touchdowns last season.

As for Amorion Walker, I am still continuing to hear positive momentum for his return to U-M.

He officially entered the portal a day or so after the news first broke so there will be some lag between an official announcement. I am unaware of timeline right now.

Elsewhere, I am told that the program has interest in Ohio State LB Nigel Glover, who hit the portal this week.

Glover was a three-star recruit in 2023 who signed with Northwestern. He hit the portal and visited Michigan last year but ended up signing with OSU.

We shall see if a return visit is in order.

It's Good News Wednesday! 4-24-24

My good news is that I feel very optimistic about Michigan Football and Basketball. The spring game was a lot of fun to watch. I have a high level of confidence in Moore.

Dusty is working his butt off, and we're already seeing results.

I went to see the Tigers win in Tampa last night. Kerry is playing well.

I'm going to see my friend Dave Barnett coach (baseball) the Flagler Saints on Saturday. This is his last year. He has over 1,000 wins and is a legend in St. Augustine. We are gonna take about 20 friends. It's gonna be a fun day.

There are a lot of problems out in the world, but there is always some good news if you look for it. God is in control.

What's your good news?

Recruiting New FutureCast prediction 4/24

After another successful visit on Tuesday, I feel comfortable officially placing a new FutureCast prediction in favor of Michigan for 2025 four-star running back Marquise Davis.

Keep in mind that he has another overnight stay in Ann Arbor in the next few weeks.

An excellent job by Tony Alford and the rest of the Michigan staff to get this one over in their direction. The transition from the new staff had that awkward lag time where no contact was made but Alford hit the ground running.

I’m not aware of any imminent announcements but, if it were to be today, I’d fully expect U-M to be the choice.

Football Beyond the Depth Chart: Position Battles

Spring practice is complete, and while position battles have not yet been won for Michigan Football, we have some clarity.
Where Michigan's most important battles stand, and one area I think the Wolverines have 4 "starters."

Nice comeback by M baseball today

In what was a bullpen day for M, they played Kent State on Tuesday winning 6-4 in 11 innings.

Despite using 9 pitchers, the game had some late inning dramatics.

KSU took an early lead in the third, but M tied it up at 2 a piece in the bottom of the 4th. Eventually KSU chipped away and scored single runs in the top of the 8th and 9th to take a 4-2 lead.

M only had 3 hits entering the bottom of the 9th, but managed to get a guy on base with two outs. Mitch Voit came up as a pinch hitter and proceeded to hit a two run homer to knot the score at 4 a piece.

Brandon Mann entered the game to start the top of the 10th. To say he was a bit rusty may be an understatement as he walked two, hit a batter and threw 2 wild pitches, Smith made a trip to the mound in the middle of the inning with two men on but decided to leave Mann in. He walked another but with the bases loaded and two outs he got the KSU batter to line out to first base to prevent any runs from scoring.

Mann paid back Smith's faith in the 11th getting KSU 1-2-3 in the top of the frame.

In the 11th, many thought Voit may have ended the game as he flew out to the warning track in right which looked like it could have been a home run if not for the wind holding up the ball just enough. Michigan managed to get another runner on base in the 11th and with two outs again, Stephen Hrustich came up and proceeded to hit one over the Fenway like wall in Left for a walk-off two run homer.

Winner-Winner chicken Dinner as M won 6-4 with Mann notching his first win of the season.

M starts a three game series at MSU this Friday in a key series. Michigan is one game out of 1st place in the B1G standings with a 10-5 record.

It's Good News Wednesday! 5-1-24

My good news is that the new basketball coach is killing it. He's rebuilt the team in a month.

My friend Dave Barnett, who coaches baseball at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, is retiring after 30+ years. This past weekend, we went to his last home series. He has over 1,000 wins and is in the college baseball Hall of Fame. They had a great retirement ceremony. They gave him a painting of the stadium. They are retiring his number, they are naming the street in front of the complex after him, AND they are going to put up a statue. I was blown away. He's a great guy (he was in my wedding). He played college ball at North Carolina, had a cup of coffee with the Expos, and played several years with The King and His Court.

They gave away Dave Barnett bobbleheads, T-shirts, and fans with his face on them. It was an incredible day. Also, they swept the weekend series and made it to the playoffs.

I'm leaving today for a 400-mile bicycle trip across north Alabama and Georgia.

What's your good news?

OT: What a joke!

Does this clown know what he is talking about when it comes to Hutchinson? Total career sacks is 21 and that is underperforming and a disappointment? Massive clickbait! We can't get a serious Detroit sports radio station because we have a bunch of lazy and uninformed Carlos on 97.1 and this clown show of a sports network. Hutchinson gets tripled and even doubled teamed, how is that a disappointment? He isn't like Chase Young who is a bigger disappearing act in the NFL

Good article on the purge at Colorado last year

Methinks the players are classier than the coach. Oh and as usual the NCAA comes off looking great lol 🤦‍♀️
