Blake Woodby?

Michigan has recruited St Francis well in the past, with players currently on the roster (D. Moore)...But there seems to be no mutual interest between Michigan and the #6 CB recruit nationally.

Gooner Talk

This match could be the keystone to an EPL championship. We have not won at Anfield since 2012 -- it is time, just as we went away and won at Old Trafford and at Spuds. Our line-up is well-rested and healthy (sans Saliba). A win will match City's defeat of Liverpool last week and restore an 8 point gap at the top of the table. I feel like we have had a week to prepare. And we have Super Mike Arteta at the helm.

Hoping for a big W at 1130 this morning.

May is my most...

...hated non football month.
June is my favorite non-football month.

In Jan Feb Mar part of Apr we have BB. So there's that.

May there is NOTHING going on though following of softball and lacrosse is a little fun.

June because of recruiting even more than July even though I'm always curious about who will come to The BBQ at THE BIG HOUSE.

August is really the start of football season. Excitement builds from the anticipation of the coming season.

I see about 10 committs in Jume with at least 5 more in July or August.

Secondary Depth

Man, did this get fixed in a big way.
I will have to dig in to see if I can figure out how I think they will use these guys now.

CB
Will Johnson
Jyaire Hill
Aamir Hall

Hall is very Wallace like in terms of addition of experience, but Jyaire Hill is much further ahead than any other CB was last year.

Nickel
Zeke Berry
Ja'Den McBurrows

Could be wrong, but my gut (again without digging in) is these moves make Berry a Nickel, Sainristil type replacement.

Safety
Makari Paige
Jaden Mangham
Wes Walker
Quinten Johnson
Brandyn Hillman

Losing Keon Sabb and then Rod Moore to injury, to this? I mean, wow. Great job by this staff.

Football CBS Sports, Sporting News released its head coach rankings this week

Sherrone is right in the middle of the pack. I'm sure he's a hard one to rank as he has head coaching experience, impressive performances in the wins he had yet is still largely inexperienced and is an unknown. I think where he lands is very fair and has a big opportunity to make a big rise this year if all goes well.

Insider Highly coveted portal DT set to visit Michigan

Spoke with former Stephen F. Austin DT Brandon Lane and confirmed he plans to visit Michigan. He hopes to get on campus tomorrow, worst case Friday this coming week.

Lane previously committed to Michigan State in the portal but backed out about a week later. We laughed about the potential Sparty reaction if he were to commit to Michigan. He saw the treatment Jaden Mangham received and retweeed his Michigan commitment tweet.

Last season, Lane had 44 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Lane has received interest from some big-time programs, including Oklahoma, Florida State, and UCLA. He MAY visit Louisville and Wisconsin.

I like where Michigan is sitting heading into the visit.
I will update you as soon as I hear more.

Roster Management

By my count Michigan is approaching 100 scholarship players. Only 5 high school recruits have committed and we continue to actively recruit there, as well as possible additions from the Transfer Portal. It’s possible we’ll wind up with well over 100 on scholarship before fall camp begins.

With no Transfer Portal registration period on the calendar until after the season is over, how do we get down to the permitted 85 max by the deadline?

Insider Wanted to point this out…

It might be something, it might be nothing.

I was told that Michigan could be hosting a “mystery” DL transfer portal prospect today but didn’t get names. One of those top secret things.

I typically wouldn’t even mention it but Lou Esposito tweeted out something that perked my ears up a bit.

Again, could be in response to Hall and/or Mangham or Ricky Johnson visiting but thought it was noteworthy to at least share.

We’ll see what happens.

Insider Intel: Few more quick team notes heading into summer

Was able to get a few more team notes as the team heads into summer conditioning work. This isn't anything new in terms of recent developments, just the overall feelings of things.

- It was reiterated again that Alex Orji is the leader in the clubhouse at QB heading into fall camp. However, was told specifically that Jack Tuttle and Davis Warren will get every opportunity to compete for the job during camp.
- Donovan Edwards' weight gain was based on NFL feedback he received, hence why he bulked up. Seems as if Michigan is fine with the gain and that the overall consensus is that the playbook hasn't changed all that much for him. He'll continue to catch passes.
- Tyler Morris, again, gets a shoutout from a separate source. Was told that people are sleeping on him and he deserves more attention. He's a 'dog'.
- Jaishawn Barham, again, gets some love. He's the other 'dog' on the team.
- Overall sense is that U-M is bullish on the offensive line. Was told that the group got better as spring progressed, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering who they're going up against on the opposite side.
- As for the DL, the belief is that they'll be the best in the conference again which isn't a hot take at all.
