Current state of the Athletic Dept.

Surprising that Ono's name has been conspicuously absent tells me he is happy with Warde's involvement with how he's doing his job. Dusty May's hiring, growing NIL programs, Sherone's building of recruiting buildup and recruiting class, filling the basketball arena, etc. I'm sure Ono has done work behind the scenes but chooses no to be in the limelight. If Ono is happy, I'm happy.

If someone had offered me a choice how our football program ended up this year this season would be choice #1. Others have posted what our season could have ended like, but with the team we had at the time, I see no way possible to get into the playoffs let alone win it all. Think Sherrone firing Campbell was tough for him to do but 100% the right thing to do. We are on an upward path and who know what our ceiling is in 25 & 26.

Warde and the committee

Better not bump SMU out for Alabama. SMU lost a hard fought game on the last play.

A few weeks ago Warde said teams won't be penalized for playing in a conference title game. Keep that energy tomorrow and have Clemson & SMU both in. Someone who lost to very bad Vanderbilt & Oklahoma teams(Alabama) has no business being in the playoffs. Just my .02

Football Noteworthy with Tulane...

Joe Craddock's name has obviously been thrown around in connection with the Michigan OC opening. Jon Sumrall is staying with Tulane with an expanded assistant salary pool, among other things.

Does this impact Craddock at all? It's not like Michigan is going to be outbid if they really want him.

Either way, wanted to bring it to your attention.

How to fix playoffs

Been thinking about this and how the playoffs could be better as far as seeding and picking who gets in:

Get rid of conf championship game, the regular season conf outright winner gets an autobid from the P4 conferences. (Why If I win the conf in regular season do I need to be rewarded with an extra game)

Replace conf champ weekend with a wild card weekend between the 2nd & 3rd team in the P4 conferences. The winner of that game now gets into the playoff.

Best G5 team auto gets in & then that leaves you with 3 at large bids.

Lastly do seeding like March madness wait until the 12 teams have been picked and seed them that way.

Not perfect but I think better than current model.

Insider Still digging on OC…

No names have emerged YET from the initial we’ve heard however there are folks who are adamant that Michigan wants to go younger with the OC pick and who has a history of QB development.

Who checks those boxes? Not sure currently.

I don’t get the sense Jason Candle will go further than the initial discussion.

Will do more digging.
