Football As we’ve been discussing regarding Jaishawn Barham…

It sounds like he will lean into being an EDGE for the 2025 season.

We discussed here and on the podcast that there had been discussions about whether he should play LB or EDGE next season. Michigan was fine with either decision but Barham’s NFL feedback suggested that he’s better off at EDGE for the next level.

Sounds like he is going to take that role in 2025.

As for LB, I expect them to address that through the portal.

I just watched the OSU game again.

In a game with a bunch of big plays, one jumped out at me in this viewing of The Game.

It's the fourth quarter, and OSU has just intercepted the ball on the goal line. It's second down, and Carnell Tate is open for an easy first down and drops it. The QB gets stopped on third down, and they punt back to us.

In retrospect, that was a HUGE play. If he catches that, they have a first down, the clock is on your side, and you are moving down the field.

On top of that, Tate never drops the ball. Wow!

Football On Max Klare…

One thing I have my eye on from the Purdue transfer is his visit to Louisville today. Jeff Brohm obviously recruited Klare to Purdue so there’s definitely familiarity there.

I’m told he had a strong visit to campus yesterday but the Cardinals are perceived to be a big threat here because of that long-term relationship.

More when I have it.

OT anyone playing ESPN bowl mania? Having technical issues

Anyone else playing and having issues? First off it was hard to log in and sign in to my already existing family group, but I finally got in to make my picks (lol unfortunately can’t remember how I did it). I only really seriously picked the first 2 games, the rest I just made a pick so I could submit, and no confidence points picking either. So I still have work to do but I’m having problems getting back into my account. I was able to get in Saturday, it started getting screwy Sunday morning. I typically don’t log out but it seems like I somehow was logged out. I tried to start over tonight but didn’t work, too tired right now so will try again tomorrow but anyone else having problems? No one else in my group is.

Outside of QB the portal is shaping up pretty well...

Yes, I'm still worried about QB. You don't have to be and we don't have to discuss it here but I'm not going to lie. There is still time for QB to work really well too but at this moment it's still a pretty big question mark right now.

Otherwise it seems like the staff is doing a very good job addressing needs. I really the Nortan pick up on the OL. He seems like a guy who could be good on the interior or at RT going forward. At the very least he should be solid depth. The Metcalf twins also help add depth in the secondary. McCulley adds the big body WR on the outside that we didn't have last year. It's also nice to see some positive momentum with guys like Haynes, Klare, Thompson, Payne, Silver, and Calhoun. There is also still plenty of time to add additional targets as more guys enter the portal. I feel good about where the roster is heading.

Recruiting Michigan 'appealing' to nation's top 2026 recruit Jackson Cantwell

"Michigan has a great plan to develop guys on and off the field, and that they have a very solid and appealing program."

The nation's No. 1 prospect in the class of 2026, five-star OL Jackson Cantwell, breaks down his debut visit to Michigan from this past weekend:

Insider Kenneth Grant future

Kenneth Grant is the only name from the group of talented juniors (Will Johnson, Mason Graham, Colston Loveland) not to declare publically for the NFL Draft.

Multiple sources have told me that the plan is for him to enter the NFL Draft. He is set to train with a company in Dallas, while the other three will train together with the same company but in Arizona.
That said, sources have told me Michigan has made a big push to get him to return for another season. I do not know the details of the NIL offer or anything like that, but it appears Grant is considering it at least.

I have no information from anyone close to Grant on which way he may or may not be leaning. Still, given the plans in place and the fact he is likely getting draft grades back of first-round possibly top 15, with a strong combine performance, it's hard for me to imagine him coming back. I guess the longer it goes with no announcement, you probably see that has a good sign for Michigan.

If I get anything more, I will update you all, but that was basically the stage heading into the offseason.

Ryder Lyons?

A friend mentioned this to me as word of mouth / am not aware of anything I’ve read verbatim, but what I heard with the indirect citing of a Rivals article is that Michigan has started to recruit Ryder Lyons (top 2026 QB, BYU - Ole Miss - Bama - Oregon suitors, USC as the favorite).

Is there any smoke to this?
