Recruiting Four-star 2026 DE Jermaine Kinsler recaps visit to Michigan

"Michigan is definitely one I will be taking an official visit to."

Four-star 2026 Bergen Catholic DE Jermaine Kinsler was back at Michigan over the weekend.

Kinsler recaps his visit and discusses his interest with the Wolverines:

OT: A little update on me...

Reflecting back on what has been a month since I was in the hospital, it was clear I needed to make some changes in a lot of facets of my life to get into the right head space to not only be successful as a human being but also be a good leader and provider for all of you here.

It's been quite a crazy month of appointments, utilizing the different changes I've made and being sure I am present here.

While I won't get into everything, maybe someday I will share the longer story, I will share the kind of changes I'm making which only make me better here. I assure you, you'll see very little dropoff.

- Going for a walk: It sounds so silly but I have been walking almost every single day and it's amazing how uncluttered your head feels after you're done. I always said I was too busy to take 15-20 minutes of my day to detach myself. Don't listen to that side. A walk has been incredible for me and I have seen the benefits.
- It's OK to take time away: I am trying to retrain my mind that it's OK to take time away from this site and focus on yourself. I would feel guilty about not being around or even freak out when I planned a vacation to Australia (which I had to reschedule to March). I had to do it by default in the hospital and I have a great team who is very capable of handling things in my absence. I am trying to take more breaks away from the message boards, away from social media and invest it into myself and my mind. That doesn't mean I am inaccessible or completely ghost, I am always near my phone and check in even if I don't post or respond to a discussion. If something big happens, I am there. If there's a little bit of a lull, I allow myself time to unplug.
- Stop obsessing: The obsession I had over numbers, content and other things had a very firm grip on me. I thoroughly believed it would drive me to an early grave if I kept on the current path. I can't control the uncontrollable. What I can control the effort I put in, the content we provide and the community we are fostering here. If there's a day where content is light, I'm good with that. As long as we're not ignoring big stories or simply not doing the work, I am good with what comes next. We've always been a proponent of no-BS when it comes to stories. No clickbait, no fluff, etc. If that means we're lighter on content to follow that golden rule, I'm going to be ok. No more feeling guilty if things are slow from a content standpoint.
- Kick ass: This one is the most important for me. Even though I am taking steps to avoid being chronically online, I am still going to be the same me. Still going to work hard for you, still going to be on top of the stories and information you deserve if you choose us. I am going to kick ass for you and always will. I don't care if we're first, third or 102nd when posting something. All I care about is being right and accurate. I am holding myself to a high standard and that will never change. I am just making some tweaks to be a better person so the standard doesn't have to change.

Sorry, that was a novel but a lot of people have been reaching out privately asking me how I've been or telling me they are happy to see me back. Just wanted to say I appreciate all of it. It truly means a lot to me. The team we've built here is strong and I trust them with everything.

We're building something special here. I truly believe it.

LIVE THREAD: Michigan at Rutgers

Michigan will take on Rutgers today at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Wolverines will look to improve to 8-2 in Big Ten play.

Dylan Harper won't play today. That's big for Michigan, considering the Scarlet Knights only have two players (Harper and Ace Bailey) who average more than 8 PPG.

Meanwhile, Vlad Goldin, who was ill for Michigan's game against Penn State on Monday, is not listed on the availability report and appears to be fully healthy for this afternoon's game.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will air on FOX. Michigan is a 6.5-point favorite.

**2025 WNBA Thread**

See if we can draw up enough interest to chat about some women's hoops around here.

Blockbuster deal going down in the WNBA. Kelsey Plum heading to LA to play with Dearica Hamby & Cameron Brink. Jewel Loyd to the Aces.

@ConqueringHero You watching this random 3x3 league they created? I'm not sure my increased interest in women's hoops is ready to take on another league. This feels like over expansion. It's not competing against the WNBA in the summer, but it's still competing against women's college hoops.

Did Spindler Show Up?

Coogan was the more desired target, I believe. He was slated to be a second-year starter and captain at ND thus year. But now that he chose Indiana, what about Rocco Spindler? I don’t like Spindler’s sole focus on maximizing his NIL income, but did he even show up for his scheduled visit?

Around The Big Ten in Basketball - A Glance

  1. Michigan State 9-0 The Spartan's conference record screams this is an elite team, but is it? They currently have the 18th ranked conference strength of schedule. They play Minnesota for the 2nd time tonight and then USC on Saturday. Which means in their first 10 conference games, they'll have played one team, Illinois, with a winning conference record. The next 3 weeks will tell us more about this squad than the first 12 have.

  2. Purdue 8-2 The Boilermakers are an interesting bunch. As we witnessed, when they're at home and they're motivated, I'm not sure any team in the country can beat them, but this squad isn't consistent. Their All American Point guard disappears far too often and they lack a prototypical Painter big, but they're well coached. I think this is Painter's best coaching job to date even with the 5 losses. Look for them to end Woodson's tenure tonight in Mackey. Purdue by 100+

  3. Michigan 7-2 The Wolverines are clearly in a lull right now. Does grinding out that home win against PSU with your best player under the weather snap them out of it? We'll find out tomorrow vs Rutgers. Wolf cannot be your secondary ball handler going forward in conference. Who does Dusty turn to? This will be the deciding factor if this season is special, or we limp into the tournament and exit early.

  4. Maryland 7-4. The terps are my surprise team to date. Derik Queen is a problem The 6ft 10in freshman is averaging 15ppg and 8.3reb. He's dropped 25 at Illinois and 26 at Purdue. The Terps are on a 4 game win streak and are currently enjoying a 6 day rest before taking on OSU. For you gambling folks out there, Maryland to win the conference may be worth some of your hard earned cash. They have the weakest schedule remainig. They get MSU at home and then at Michigan March 5th. Nobody left on their schedule has a winning conference record. They're in the driver seat from my vantage point.

  5. Wisconsin 6-4 You may not recognize this Wisconsin team based on their style of play this season. This is the fastest paced Wisconsin team in your lifetimes. What may look familiar is the lack of athleticism in their front court which has been their achilles heel this season. They have a gauntlet of a schedule in February. Good luck Badgers

  6. UCLA 6-4. The first thought you should have when reading that record is The Undertaker rising from the dead. They are currently on a 5 game winning streak with wins over #18 Wisconsin and #16 Oregon. It looks like Cronin had a point, 20 hours of flights to play 4 games was simply too much for college kids to handle. It's no surprise this 5 game winning streak all happened on the west coast.

  7. Illinois 6-4 The Illini have lost 4 of their last 6. Two of those losses are bad losses. Home vs USC and at Nebraska in OT last night. Illinois reminds me of Michigan right now. They are clearly in a lull. The only difference, they are losing the ugly games they are supposed to win. I'd rather be us than them right now. I'm not sure who agreed to play Duke at Madison Square Garden February 22nd but that is criminal. Illinois's last 7 games of the regular season are: UCLA, MSU, at Wisconsin, Duke at MSG, Iowa, At Michigan, Purdue. That is dreadful. R.I.P. to the soles on Coach Underwood's shoes.

Honorable mention for being relevant: Oregon. They have lost 3 of their last 4 but have a very manageable schedule in February. I predict they stay in the top 8 and are comfortably a tournament team when it's said and done.

Regarding PE, the B1G & SEC

on PATC, Greg covered that article today posted in another thread. This seems to be gaining traction in Chicago very, very fast.

However, it appears that the B1G & SEC are moving forward with their meetings.

On another B1G sports site, the co-host was told specifically that the B1G & SEC are basically becoming allies or partners if you will. Why? They both will get 4 auto qualifiers either next year or 26 at the latest. They have the power to do so in 26.

AND...

He continued stating the B1G & SEC do not want to break up CFB, that both leagues want the G5 to have the chance to play in the playoffs.

Another point of significance was that the B1G & SEC expect to have a scheduling alliance soon.

To make this happen supposedly, the B1G & SEC are willing to go to 8 conference games each. Why? 8 Conference game will give each league 4 non-conference games. This will allow the B1G & SEC to have 3 additional home games each year. Now here is where it gets interesting, apparently the B1G & SEC can then host a home game against a quality opponent and each B1G & SEC team can play an away game against quality opponent. Giving each school a home and away game every year against a quality non-conference opponent from the SEC & B1G.

Something else that is very interesting is they want to start the season one week earlier. Why? To give our media partners the opportunity to broadcast 8 or 9 marquee games over LABOR Day (not memorial day, sorry gang) weekend. Oh yea, this is for REVENUE baby. But what a start to the CFB season the first two weeks, don't ya think?

This information came from a source in one of the top B1G programs AD department. No, it wasn't from Michigan, I know that as the one who spoke of this is not a Michigan fan.

Now regarding expansion, they stated that they were told that UNC & NC State are tied at the hip and they are the #1 get for the SEC to go to 18 schools and that ESPN is willing to make this happen.

Now again something very interesting, Petitti wants into Florida, the SEC & ESPN are willing to see that happen giving the B1G MIAMI and either GA Tech or FSU depending upon where they fall. This same source stated that FSU is very close to becoming an AAU member as well.

If other schools can move the SEC would want Clemson and FSU to bring the league to 20. But others are an attractive option for the SEC as well.

Regarding the B1G, the door is open for ND regardless of how many new schools the B1G expands to. However, specifically, he said his AD source told him the that B1G, Petitti and the Presidents want is MIAMI and FSU and the SEC & ESPN didn't balk. If FSU was off the table, then UVA, GA Tech appear to be on the table. Supposedly the UNC & UVA connection died due to NC State and the NC Legislature. Which would bring GA Tech most likely since the VA Legislature may require the same for UVA & VA Tech.

Damn, that show was loaded. All I will say is, we shall see.

Reminder: Ryan Day Hired a PI Who “Investigated” Michigan’s Sign-Stealing “Operation” and Dropped a Dime to the NCAA

There’s been no actual refutation by anybody of the contents of this report. And it’s not necessarily surprising that the matter wasn’t (perhaps) addressed in either the NCAA’s Notice of Allegations, nor Michigan’s response to same.
