Next man up at Safety for Michigan Football

Losing Rod Moore to an injury is a massive loss, no way around it. But Michigan enters 2024 with a veteran safety room and young breakout candidates.
So, who takes the biggest leap? Who is the next man up at safety for Michigan Football?

LIVE THREAD: Michigan vs. North Dakota (NCAA Tournament)

Michigan will take on North Dakota tonight in the first round of the NCAA Tournament from St. Louis.

The Wolverines enter as the No. 3 seed and the Fighting Hawks come in as the No. 2 seed.

Michigan State just beat Western Michigan in overtime, so Michigan will start in about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, here's some pregame reading:

Insider Intel: Rumblings as Dusty May looks to fill out his staff

Did some asking around about what a potential staff would look like under Dusty May and got a clearer picture of a few names that have been floated around lately.

Here's what we've been hearing.

- The special assistant role that we discussed yesterday is 'probably not' going to be for John Beilein. There's likely a role there but it remains undefined as of today.

- One name that we hear that May is considering for an assistant role is Jacksonville University head coach Jordan Mincy. Mincy is a rising star in the coaching sphere and been listed on Top 40 under 40 coaches lists on both ESPN and The Athletic.

- Another name that has been floated around and has been recommended by Beilein is Darris Nichols, Radford head coach. Nichols played under Beilein at West Virginia and was someone that May mentioned he was a fan of during his introductory press conference.
- While Nichols would be an excellent fit, for the sake of transparency, he was arrested for a DUI last year and was sentenced to probation. With the recent resignation of Greg Scruggs due to a DWI, it muddies the waters a bit.

That's what I have for now, more when I can get it.

May waiting for April?

FAU’s Johnell Davis I would guess would be Dusty’s top target.

So, Davis isn’t in the portal yet so are we supposed to believe that Michigan is going to wait till he is before they make their pitch to him? Anything else is tampering as I understand the process. Also, wonder what kind of NIL deal teams will promise him? 100k. 250k or more?

Four-star RB Bo Jackson talks Alford effect

Ohio four-star running back Bo Jackson was in Ann Arbor yesterday for an unofficial visit. He said the visit went great and getting around the coaching staff stood out most to him.

"The main thing was spending a lot of time getting to know Coach Moore," Jackson said. And spending time with Coach Alford just getting info on the place, the program and the people."

This is one of the first recruits to directly tell me about the Tony Alford impact too. Alford makes Jackson more interested in the Wolverines.

"Yes (he makes me more interested) but I was always interested in Michigan but they were not strongly recruiting me."

Michigan appears to be making a good impression on the top running back in the Midwest this cycle.

The most recent show this morning on CFB Peek Around The Corner,

FSU released a news report that another lawsuit has been filed in Leon County Court. FSU has contended three misrepresentations by the ACC who is obviously hiding the truth.

Several sticking points include the following.

1. The ACC hasn't at this time presented to the NC Judge Bledsoe the Media Agreement. The judge only has 12 of more than a 100 page media contract. The ACC is demanding the judge to accept only the ACC's word, that Judge Bledsoe only needs those 12 of more than 100 pages to make a ruling against FSU.

The kicker thus far is that Judge Bledsoe demanded the full TV contract. Bottom line, the ACC refuses still to follow the Judges direct request, as the ACC demands a pro ACC ruling upon only the 12 of more than 100 page median contract. The ACC presented to Judge Bledsoe. FSU & Clemson has presented that the ACC has engaged in full deception to protect the ACC from it's schools from leaving the ACC.

2. The ACC is fudging their authority by giving ESPN an additional 4 years from 21 to 24 to determine if ESPN will continue the contract of the ACC. In the FSU BOD meeting a nuclear bomb was set off when it was hidden from the ACC member schools that ESPN could walk away from the ACC in 2026 as the final year of the ACCN.

Clemson is making this same argument in the South Carolina courts against the ACC. Legally the reality is that the schools can simply leave and it is a simple formality.

3. The FSU lawyers have argued and shown why the ACC complaint MUST BE DENIED and this case must be turned over to the courts in Florida.

In short, the ACC isn't long for survival. FSU & Clemson continue to argue that there is something in the ESPN Media Contract that may kill the ACC Conference.

The CFB soap opera of conference realignment is exploding as we watch what is unfolding.

We shall see...

Hah...I have actually used an outdated term on here a lot:

"Power Five Conference"

Now it's actually "Power Two (B1G and SEC) and a Half (the faltering and soon to be extinct ACC) with some stragglers including Notre Dame. The diminishing ACC will most probably be absorbed by either the B1G or the SEC, making what could be considered an "AFC/NFC Type" set up with two conferences (maybe 4 Divisions) with a 12 team playoffs.

I'd imagine Notre Dame is betting on raising its value as a program, especially once they are the last "High-Major" program available for whatever new names the future B1G and SEC have (I'll bet that they will change them one the total additions are made.

I'll defer to people with more intel than myself who knows nothing.
