Top 5 Coaches to be fired like right now

It’ll be interesting to see how the season plays out and what our wins and losses, including hopefully a bowl game. And, what kind of pressure there is on Coach Moore as the season progresses.

Offseason Top 5 Priority List

1. Legitimate Portal QB (Underwood is NOT coming here)
2. New OC
3. 2 Legitimate WRs in the portal
4. 1 Legitimate DT in the portal
5. New DC (although I think Wink will leave on his own).

Of course, success in 1, 3 and 4 will require not only legitimate NIL (which we don't have) and a player wanting to come to UM to play with potentially lesser talent.

I remain where I was on September 12th

Yes there’s some technical failures going on. Morgan, Campbell and Moore are all struggling mightily IMO.

But my sense on 9/12 remains:

The weight of this post football panacea identity crisis is massive and really hard to turn around mentally/chemistry/identity wise.

So much goes into great football and very little of it is easy.

The weight of the world, and or previous perfection is on this staff and kids shoulders and that’s a tough context to perform in - let alone come back in.

It's a bad situation.

Moore had no good option, but not sticking with Warren was a huge mistake.

I agree that he should have been benched for the AK St game, but naming Orji the starter was an overreaction.

Musical chairs with the QBs have been a disaster.
We should have stayed with the younger guy and tried to develop him.

We are seeing a staff that has overthought themselves into two out of three losses that should have never happened.

The formula is Mullings and some complimentary passing, but these guys just refuse to do the obvious.

How does the portal fix coaching?

I'm struggling to see how the portal, which seems to be what we're all hanging our hat on as a solution, will work.

Let's start with the defense. It's awful. Raise your hand if you thought we were gonna stop Illinois on 3rd and 12 after we fumbled. Yeah, me neither. We all knew they'd convert. Why? Because our defense is awful.

And how is the portal gonna fix that? Let's say that somehow beyond all odds we were able to get a top 10 draft pick CB, a top 10 draft pick DT, and another 1st round DT in the portal. It wouldn't be enough to fix this shit show of a defense since we already have those guys and it doesn't matter. How many first rounders do we have to find in the portal to overcome the horrendous coordinating of Martindale and the incompetent coaching of Brian Jean-Mary and Lamar Morgan?

Now to offense. Let's say we somehow entice a likely first round QB to UM. And also manage to recruit a true WR1 and WR2. And also manage to find a replacement for Mullings. Why would it matter when it all depends on a line coached by Newsome? A line which will need to find 4 new starters just to reach competence (5 if Hinton leaves)? Who cares who's at QB when he won't last a quarter before getting a concussion from another failed pass block? Why would it matter who the WRs are when they're going to be coached by Bellamy?

Take a hard look at Florida State. Coaching matters. Unless we can find a new OC, DC, O-line coach, WR coach, QB coach, LB coach, and DB coach then it isn't going to matter. And if you unquestionably need to fire that many guys, why even keep the HC? And I say this as a guy who was in favor of Sherrone's hiring.

The portal won't fix what's wrong. We need a new coaching staff.

It’s a grin and bear year at Michigan.

Two games in a row fans storm field after beating a bad Michigan team. Which is pathetic when they just watched a Michigan team that can’t cross the street without falling down. Storm the field if it was last years team you just beat, you didn’t which is why I say pathetic. And Jabba the Hut’s grin at press conference after beating this Michigan team was pathetic.

If Moore stays...

he has to make major changes to get huge flips in recruiting & to get the huge transfer portal guys. Make the offense more passing friendly. No, I'm not saying go full air-raid. Just don't have the QB handing off the ball most of the game though. We know we need better assistants. They will be out there. Michigan better beat the other top programs for their services.

Just start preparing for next year at this point.

Michigan and Kennesaw State

I'm one of the idiots who thought hiring Sherrone was the way to go. Of course, I'm not paid over a million bucks to make that decision (cough WARDE cough).

Even though I thought Sherrone was the guy, how do you keep him at this point? Does Warde have the guts to fire him (hint: no, he doesn't)? Do the regents have the guts to fire Warde (hint: they don't).

Anyway, enjoy this latest humiliation.

How much leash does Moore have?

I’m about as objective as a Michigan fan as I can be. Knowing what we were replacing, with late hiring in the coaching cycle, and knowing we didn’t have a real QB option I wasn’t inspecting a 10-2 team, I was honestly believing 8-4/9-3. Which I still wouldn’t been mad at if we would’ve looked competent, disciplined, and played good football. This showcase this season is downright scary, and abysmal. It just doesn’t make sense in my opinion. I’m all for letting things play out but you honestly have to ask are the lights to bright for Sherrone. Especially when you went from a natty team to maybe the 2-3 worst team in the league with talent that should at least keep you upper middle of the pack.

I’m not calling for Moores job but it makes it tough to watch when you’re watching what’s happening at Indiana, when you watch Nebraska waltz out a true frosh QB and are currently 5-2, I mean Purdue is terrible and they put up numbers against this Illinois team. I think the question really has to be is this too big of a job for Sherrone and do you give him anything after this audition season?

As optimistic as I am I’m leaving heavily no. Late coaching hires or not the the undisciplined & sloppy play, the lack of fundamentals, as well as an anemic offense has to come back on the head guy! As we say at work for those in charge it may not be your job but its definitely your responsibility & I can say man Sherrone is looking like the responsibility is a little too much for him.
