Realistic Big Ten West scenarios

Purdue and illinois play next week. At illinois.

Fair to say both are VERY mediocre teams given today's results. illinois never seemed legit to me and to be losing 23-7 at one point with a supposed "top" defense against a comically bad offense is a complete joke.

Bypassing three field goals to then lose by 8 and then having your opponent coach moronically giving you the ball with one last possession and STILL losing is stupid enough.

Say Purdue wins. (I think this a pick'em game in my opinion). Both teams will have 3 conference losses.

Purdue is then in the driver's seat UNLESS wisconsin or iowa win out.

Add in another loss for illinois against us and that's 4 for them.

Meanwhile a certain team is sitting quietly in the background.

Iowa has
wisconsin
@minnesota
nebraska

Iowa will be favored in 2 of those 3 and @ minnesota is probably at most +3.5 underdog.

So iowa WINS OUT, purdue beats illinois, Michigan beats illinois.

And your West champion in a completely realistic scenario is IOWA.

And if Wisconsin wins out, purdue beats illinois, and Michigan beats illinois

And the West champion in that completely realistic scenario is wisconsin.
