It’s Been Almost A Week…

… since the well documented assaults on two Michigan players after last Saturday night’s game. Initially there was lots of conversation that the assaults were “under investigation” by various authorities—the local and state police, the Big Ten, the Washtenaw County Prosecutor. The only entity which has taken any action until now is Michigan State University—they “suspended” eight players “until the investigations were complete”. They did not penalize anyone. Even with the extensive video and interviews of people who were close observers of the assaults, it’s beginning to appear that if any entity was going to file criminal charges or penalize the perpetrators they would have begun steps to do so by now. There hasn’t been any announcement of the status of the investigations by anyone.

is it possible that the various authorities are simply going ignore this egregious incident? Let it slide and hope everyone involved will simply forget that it happened? That after a short time the suspended players will be reinstated by MSU with no penalties? That the Big Ten will take no action, even a letter of recrimination or warning? And that the Washtenaw County Prosecutor will simply decide not to charge the MSU perpetrators with even the simplest misdemeanor?

Wow! …. what else can be said?… Wow!

Recruiting Michigan lands in the top 11 for…

2024 Rivals100 WR Jordan Anderson. If I had to make an education guess, based on past conversations with sources, the Wolverines could be in the top three with Oregon and USC.

Nebraska game time

With all the tunnel/MSU talk the past few days I didn’t realize til just now that I didn’t see a Nebraska game time announcement-did I miss it? I googled and looked on mgoblue.com but nothing. I believe it should have been announced yesterday-I know there is an exception to that timing but can’t remember the circumstances when it is announced closer to game day…

Recruiting Chris Ewald Jr.

The 2025 Rivals100 cornerback from Hollywood, Florida, made his return to Michigan last weekend. He said it was the best visit he’s taken there so far. He also plans to come back as early as next week for the Michigan State game. Steve Clinkscale is prioritizing Ewald which could dividends down the road. Story out soon.

Insider Offensive starter potentially is out tomorrow… (3:35 p.m. Update)

3:35 p.m. update: I have confirmed that Jeff Persi is indeed starting at left tackle tomorrow

Just got word that Michigan could potentially be without a starter on offense for Saturday.

Ryan Hayes is the player in question. Strong buzz that Jeff Persi will be getting the start tomorrow at left tackle.

Sounds like he’s banged up and resting this week.

I am monitoring some other minor injuries that could be rested tomorrow and I will let you all know when I get things more concrete.
