Insider This Week in The Den: All is quiet on the Nebraska front

Welcome back to another edition of This Week in The Den. It should be a relatively quick one this week as there isn't a whole lot to discuss from a team perspective, which I always take as a very good thing.

Let's get started.

- The team is excited to get on the road and play in its first road atmosphere this season. The one concern coming from the team is the weather. Gametime temperatures should be right around 94 degrees tomorrow, which doesn't account for the temperatures on the field, which should be well into the 100s. Hydration and keeping an eye on cramping is a concern but something the program is prepared for.
- Quiet week from a team health standpoint, which I take as a good sign. Status quo and no new names, at least to my knowledge, have popped up on the injury report. Obviously, we'll see what the availability report reads tomorrow.
- We were told in passing over the course of the week that Matt Hibner has informed the program of his intentions to depart as a grad transfer after this season. He will preserve his redshirt this season and his fourth game will be used on an emergency basis. He will continue participating with the program on the scout team until he departs.
- We were also told that Santa Ono is telling those inquiring about Jim Harbaugh's contract status that he is 'encouraging' Warde Manuel to begin the process of keeping Jim Harbaugh long-term. I use the word in quotations because I am using his verbiage. Ono is a big supporter of Harbaugh and is fully on board with keeping him long-term. As for what's next with the contract talks, we are unaware of that just yet. Will continue to do some more digging.

That's all I have for now. As always, keep an eye out inside The Den for more nuggets.

A couple of simple stats that explain...

...so much. Something Trevor touched on.

Michigan may only be scoring 31 pts but they are #1 in points per drive. They are also down an average of 13 plays per game from 70 plays a game to 57 which obviously cuts into total yards and scoring. Its about 100 yds per game.

Michigan's D also happens to be #1 in points allowed per drive.

This is why this is a dominat team.

STOCK REPORT: Offense vs Rutgers

JJ is so close to being in the elite tier, I explain how he gets there. Corum and Edwards, and now an RB3. A star rising at WR, could he be WR3 this season? Tight ends starting to make an impact. OL, the interior is elite, and yes, more tackle talk.

ANOTHER coaching list to make MSU fans upset

MSU fans are delusional if they don't think this is the list.
It doesn't appear anyone wants to be the President. Going to be an issue in the middle of a coaching search.
Haller, got the job because he was the right man of disgraced Hollis. Was a cop at MSU, has no experience outside EL. His first call when the Tucker stuff started, Dantonio.
Can't even get into the noise that is coming from the Tucker lawsuit. Any sort of settlement will obviously impact this search as well. They aren't hiring another $95M coach.

So, that means the next coach is likely someone with MSU connections. Someone that Dantonio will likely approve. That list, isn't great.
Narduzzi and Tressell. Enos and House.
Elko is going to be one of the top candidates this cycle, I just don't see him taking that job.
Huff is a better candidate than they are giving him credit for. A+ recruiter, worked at Penn State and under Saban.

This is uncalled for...

People get upset over some of things Michigan players say in interviews.

This takes trash talk a little to far. Lost a lot respect for the program. This is on the coaching staff as much as the players.

Go ahead with the excuses like other teams talk like this. It doesnt make it right!

Insider Intel: Expected attrition at the end of the season

Was told that the team has been informed that Matt Hibner intends to keep his redshirt and will enter the portal as a graduate transfer at the end of the year.

He will continue to remain on the team and work with the scout team but will preserve his fourth game as an emergency basis and will move on when he’s able to.
