Danny Wolf - what a performance

Man was he unreal tonight. A performance that is so unique for a guy his size. I've been critical and frustrated at times with him this season due to the carelessness with the ball, etc. This was an incredibly impressive game from Danny. Some of the things I remember:

-20 pts, 7 reb, 5 ast to go with 3 stl and 5 blk. Wowzer.
-Tremendous defense in the 1st half, with multiple blocks that really saved us.
-The 11-0 run Wisconsin had in the 1st half was when he was out - very telling.
-All kinds of tap outs on the offensive boards to get us extended possessions, especially in the first half.
-Not sure when it happened, but Dusty put Wolf on Tonje in the 2nd half - and he absolutely shut him down. For context, Tonje is a guard who was average 23 a game before tonight.
-Much improved in terms of valuing the basketball. Had the ball often throughout, and consistently made great choices.
-Really excelled in the pick and roll game with Vlad. That is going to be tough to stop.
-Lastly - I loved him calling out the Wisconsin BS. Blackwell fell to the ground during a whistle, and it was all Blackwell being a moron. Typical Wisconsin flopping around. And Wolf let him know about it.

I cannot stand Wisconsin basketball due to the way they play - always flopping, always looking for contact (Tonje and Blackwell), etc. It's a brand of basketball that I have no respect for. And it's not like they don't have talented/high IQ guys - they do. But the brand of ball they play is embarrassing.

LOVE this win! If you aren't watching these guys, I'd suggest you tune in. This team feels like one that can compete with anyone in the conference, and still has a lot they can improve on.

HOT BOARD: Michigan OC Candidates

Kirk Campbell is officially out as offensive coordinator at Michigan.
Candidates to replace him include current head coaches, one of the best OCs in the nation, and up-and-comers getting attention at smaller schools.

Replace conf champ games

Been talking to some friends and it almost seems like a non reward to play in the conf championship game. Just a thought what if the outright winner gets the automatic bid and then you have a wild card weekend where the #2 & #3 team play for their playoff spot. Because if I’m Oregon right now I’m not sure how much I actually care to play when it feels like Ohio state gets the easy way to win. It still keeps regular season interesting cause you’re playing for the outright title and essentially two bye weeks no conf champ game and you get a bye first week of the playoffs. Just a thought on how to make the regular season a little more interesting as well as the late playoff push. I’m a little thrown off that the committee decided that those who don’t play this weekend won’t get bumped out of the playoffs and that’s just wack to me!

For those afraid that Moore won't be involved heavily with the OL:

Moore said. "I know that as long as I'm here, we're gonna be good up front. We're gonna be violent, we're gonna be physical, gonna be tough, relentless, all the things you want.
d and has continued to be one of the best passing offenses in the nation, with Day's fingerprints all over it.
IMO, this was just another odd worry by Michigan fans.

Keep in mind: Ryan Day took over OSU because of his passing game chops. When he became HC, of course the offense remained a super-productive passing O, complete with NFL QBs and the top WRs in the game. Day's fingerprints an as OC are actually who he IS as a head coach.

In the same vein, Jim Harbaugh, despite being a decorated head coach, ALWAYS was heavily involved with his QB's- Even to the point of being THE QB coach as well as Michigan's head coach for his first 4 seasons at Michigan.

I mean it would've been a bit "off" if Harbaugh was not the de facto go to coach for J.J. (we all saw how involved he was in J.J.'s development, as well as getting QBs to commit).

Why?

Because Jim Harbaugh will always be a QB at heart.

This idea that Coach Moore, the OC, decorated OL coach, and the guy that told his OL unit that they would have to "lead the team" would be unavailable for comment, or leadership at that position (of al the positions on the team) due to being too busy is just a take that ignores football coaching history, and common sense.

Not to mention the idea that Grant Newsome is a "rising star" in coaching- One who is tabbed as a future head coach- But somehow the former OT is supposed to be over his head coaching the OL...For those questioning Newsome's promotion, pray tell what position a former OT should be coaching? And shouldn't a two time Joe Moore award-winning coach know what it takes to man his former position?

Too much unfounded "fear".

My Response to People Bashing Michigan

As frustrating as this season has been, it is still important that we remember that literally 10 months ago we won a national championship.
Now every week at work when I get the "What's going on with Michigan?" comment here is my response.

"Well, at Michigan before every game we pass the National Championship trophy around and hold it up, so i guess our players are just a little too tired from holding up that gorgeous trophy."

That pretty much shuts them up....

Just thought I would share my strategy with everyone if they wanted new material...

Go Blue!
