...are strutting over Brian Kelly’s third undefeated regular season, the second perfect regular season in the last three in his eleven-year career as the Irish head coach Plus they will likely be selected for the playoffs for the second time since a Committee has selected the semi finalists. They go on to pat themselves on the back for achieving those accomplishments with recruiting classes seldom as good as Michigan’s, paying Kelly less than a quarter of what we pay Harbaugh, and with a first-year offensive coordinator and a third-year defensive coordinator, both in their first jobs as coordinators.
What can we say other than to agree that Brian Kelly is one of the best college head coaches in the country. He clearly has a system and set of program values that have proven repeatable and engender great loyalty of his players to Notre Dame and to each other. The frequency of players who choose to leave early for the NFL or transfer is admirable.
Those who stay will be champions used to be a Michigan saying, but not any more. Too bad. That seems so fundamental to the creation of a top program. Thinking about it, not many players leave early from Alabama or Clemson either.
