I’m Excited

Tomorrow’s game will be fun to watch. I don’t tend to complain about every play call or see everything as a negative. So I’m very excited to see how this team improves tomorrow. I know it won’t be perfect, but I also know how we perform tomorrow has no bearing on future games.

Part of the fun for me, especially in seasons like this where we are replacing so many players, is to see the growth.

There has been plenty of discussion about some missed opportunities from the offense. I’m hoping we see some better decisions and capitalize on some plays. I also hope we test the passing game a little more, even 17-18 passes would be fine.

But we always have to bear in mind - Harbaugh built this program. And he almost never used games as a way to “try new things”. The objective was always just to win. In any manner. I imagine Moore has a similar mentality. So while I hope we use this opportunity to expand our pass game, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t. Especially in a tight game.

Regardless of all this - I’m excited to see the growth. That is what helps make this fun for me.

Hope everyone tries to ENJOY the game tomorrow and not see only the bad.

Rutgers & Schiano

does anyone know just what Schiano was doing with a walkie talkie on the sidelines? Later in the game he had a headset with a microphone.

Was it a temporary comms issue, in which case, don't they also require the other team to take down it's comms?

Or was there another explanation?

This is Going to Be Fun.

The only fear I have for Dusty May and his upcoming era at Michigan is that he will be so good, that he will "Brad Stevens" Michigan for an NBA job.

I'm pretty excited for this season's team, even though it is seemingly a thrown together team of Frankenstein parts...

Upon further speculation, it seems that there's a definite plan, and the team we see in front of us, fits it perfectly.

One player from FIU, Vlad Goldin is a legit interior big, athletic shot blocker and defender, another Danny Wolf, is a giant from Yale with an amazingly adept perimeter game, complete with great passing skills. Top sharpshooter Sam Walters is a loooong 6'10" , 200lb SF who could develop into more than just a shooter.

Rubin Jones could either start or be the guy he was described as being: Another Chaundee Brown. Leadership, defense, scoring, rebound, whatever you need...This is why I would love to see us land McKinney for this exact role...and we're leading supposedly, another reason for optimism.

Sleeper IMO is Roddy Gayle...I was stunned to find out that the driving force from OSU that barged his was to 13.5 PPG in the B1G last season couldn't shoot, not because of not being capable, but due to having an injured shooting hand (or wrist) last season. For a better reason to feel that his shooting may emerge, he shot 43% from 3 (on 49 shots) as a true freshman.

He's a returning B1G scorer, with hopefully a returning perimeter touch at full health.

Excited to see the blur of guards that seems to be May's signature. Donaldson, Burnett, and true freshman Cason, will mix in with Gayle and probably one (maybe both) of the other two freshmen Phat Phat Brooks and Justin Pippen. I wouldn't be surprised considering the number of guards Dust plays.

I'm looking forward to seeing this team in action. I wouldn't be surprised to see some clunkiness at first and some real success as the season goes on as far as offense, and a consistently good defensive effort- Bigger bigs, bigger guards.

Michigan should take a swing at FSU etc recruits

Teams like Florida State recruit a lot of top 150 recruits and are falling flat on their face on the field right now.

Michigan should take another swing at some of their recruits.

Maybe Dave, can drop some of that $1M to $3M annually now to build up our lines as well.

Michigan makes a very compelling destination for all positions outside of QB & WR, if we get our NIL game up to par.

For QB &WR, well, we have Davis and Hart in the pipeline but recruiting is going to be a struggle until we have a more productive pass attack and that's hard without the recruits so we might need to drop bags of cash to break that cycle.
