OT: On Carson Beck and "Good vs Bad Coaching".

I've read so many declarations on this board: Declarations made with 100% airtight confidence, such as: QB performance is 100% he difference-maker from programs.

I looked at a recent stat regarding Carson Beck of UGA- He has 10 TD passes and 11 INTs in SEC play this season and is 7-1 as a starter.

Carson Beck has 8 INTs (5 TDs) in his last three games, including two games with 3 INTs- All of these were wins. As these weeks have past, I've been seeing post after post on the Fort regarding "elite QB play" as the "only way to win games" going forward.

But seriously, what's up with Beck?

Minus his 5 TD no INT game vs Tennessee Tech, Beck has a poor TD/INT rate (12-11)

Yet Beck put up killer numbers, with much better consistency and efficiency as a first-time starter, last season with UGA.

He hit the portal once it looked as if UGA had secured the commitment of Dillon Raiola-
In an interesting twist, UGA paid big NIL $ Beck to come back to continue growing under the same coaching staff that had him playing at an elite level last season...but something happened.

Many UGA fans are blaming Beck's newfound celebrity (as a former humbly ranked 5.8 RR 4-star QB recruit outside of the top 250) for his fall. He's dating one of the Cavinder twins, he's driving an NIL-funded Lambo, and living the friggin' life!

At the expense of what? Who cares about his performance if the team is winning anyway?

Well, Beck was a preseason favorite to be a first-round draft pick in the 2025 draft.
Now he isn't draftable at all.

I wonder what Michigan fans feel happened in regard to coaching.
Throwing eight interceptions and five TDs over the last three games (Florida, Texas, and Miss St) is an obvious form of player regression, and we're comparing one QB to himself, which is the only way to measure performance. I wonder if the UGA QB Coach and/or OC are feeling heat from their fans?

The UGA fanbase in a weird spot with an otherwise dominant team and true contender, with scores of behavioral issues and a QB who seems, at best distracted by the NIL $ and ensuing attention.

Beck had better get out of this three-game funk tonight vs Ole Miss. That or he needs to hope that his girlfriend doesn't break up with him... ;)

QB watch: OK, hear me out..

Maybe I'm punch drunk after another long week but I just traded messages with Carter Smith and his only visit coming up is to Wisconsin. Are we to believe he de-committed from Michigan to go to Wisconsin and not because, say, Michigan sort of hinted (or more) that they feel decently about Bryce Underwood?

Just trying to connect some dots here but why let Smith walk if you weren't fairly confident on Underwood and then be left with no QB (unless going back to the portal for a quick fix would be in the cards). Just something I've been considering today.

Former Wolverine Jerry Diorio joins the show to discuss Michigan's game tomorrow at Indiana. Jerry and Dennis also talk about players opting out of the season at this point. Diorio also shows a few plays from last weeks loss verses Oregon.

Keep Bryce Home event at Bellville this Friday

There is a Michigan fan tailgate at Bellville this Friday to try to show support for Bryce and show him Michigan wants him. I can't go but figured I would share here. If you click the link below, there should be a popup with all the details.

So what’s the official and unofficial

Word on Will Johnson returning this year?

Dont like the vibe here but don’t have concrete info that says sitting out to protect his draft stock is in the cards or part of this situation. I certainly hope not.

Sure do appreciate the approach of the Grants and Grahams and Jake Butts and others who, once they decide to be part of a team (let alone accept NIL money) they go on that ride with that team to the end.

Bowl games are one thing anything beyond that well, I’ll just say if it were my kid, I’d be disappointed in anything other than doing everything he could to be on the field with his teammates.
