I want, with sincere heart, to thank all of the kind, compassionate and wonderful individuals within the bounds of our Wolverine nation here at rival

Everyone of you has been so generous with your spirit of comfort and soalice while you genuinely conveyed to me so much emphatic support and understanding through your words in narrative following my post, wherein, I expressed my anguished pain and grief after my daughter's passing. She fought a brave battle with courage and dispatch of true heart before she lost her life to the ravages of Cancer.. My Wife and I thank all of you here at Rivals for your thoughtfulness and comforting words coupled with empathy. We are still struggling of course. We are however making efforts to get back on our courses of focus and action, though we still encounter many many monuments of heavy hearts and retrospection. Indeed all of you are sincerely good people quick to impart your passions along with compassions. Thank You all again for your virtue of thoughts and graciousness.

NILQuestions (Incomplete List)

At the University of Michigan…

1. Can an athlete represent himself in seeking out and contracting for NIL payments?

2. Can an athlete hire a lawyer or agent to represent him in seeking out and documenting NIL contracts?

3. Is an athlete required to get approval from someone or some department of the University before entering into an NIL contract?

4. Can an athlete deal directly with a Collective in seeking out or documenting an NIL contract?

5. What role do the new consulting firms, Altius and Learfield play in the NIL program?

6. Can the University or the Athletic Department make contributions (possibly a percentage of TV rights receipts) to a consulting firm, a Collective or directly to student-athletes without creating an employer-employee relationship?

7. What does the “dotted line relationship” between persons involved in Michigan’s NIL program and Warde Manuel mean?

I’m sure there will be more questions, but getting answers to these will be a good start.

Recruiting Rivals250 DL Maxwell Roy discusses why Michigan made his top 6

"If I ask questions (to coach Newsome), I know I'm going to get the truth and a straight answer."

Four-star class of 2025 DL Maxwell Roy said his relationship with Grant Newsome and his transparency about staff turnover at Michigan is one of the reasons the Wolverines have made Roy's top six schools.

STORY:

Insider Altius postscript...

Members of Altius and Michigan had met for months trying to get this over the finish line. So today was a very rewarding feeling for all involved.

I am told members of Altius brass and Santa Ono met over the national championship weekend one-on-one and Ono pushed this through. Now, we're here with an official announcement.

This is all part of the increased focus on NIL within the athletic department and a clear plan put together by both Ono and Warde Manuel. Everyone is on the same track and both parties are in lockstep.

Today was a good day for NIL.

Insider Intel: Greg Scruggs at work today…

Spent the day getting acclimated at Schembechler Hall, was told he spent a good portion of the day with Wink going over film and talking it up.

General consensus is that the two hit it off very well and will become close working together.

Scruggs and Brian Jean-Mary have a relationship with one another dating back to Louisville, along with Sherrone Moore. There‘s a lot of love there.

Just waiting on word about BJM accepting the offer!

Michigan unbeaten in regular season since new team took over on this site

The last regular season football game Michigan lost was to Michigan State on October 30, 2021.

This site with the new team went live on November 1, 2021.

Michigan has not lost a regular season game since then. Only the two playoff losses.

So it has been almost a three year run.

Coincidence? Who knows. But during those three years basketball had obviously downtrended.

And will the three year run end before the end of year three? If we can get by Texas in September the next game Michigan will possibly be the underdog for is Oregon on November 2.

So will our unbeaten regular season streak come to an end almost exactly 3 years after it started?

PS And if the streak was to end, hopefully not the week before to Michigan State. THAT would be a terrible bookend.

Insider Intel: Significant developments in LB coach search

Earlier today, we had mentioned that Tennessee LB coach Brian Jean-Mary appeared to be the leader in the clubhouse for the linebacker job at Michigan.

Tonight, I feel even stronger that Jean-Mary is not only the top choice, he’s going to be the choice.

We are told that Jean-Mary was one of two candidates (the other we’re told is George Helow) to reach out through back channels to get Sherrone Moore to notice his interest in the position since Moore got the head coach job.

Moore was already well aware of Jean-Mary.

This isn‘t something Moore had to convince Jean-Mary into, interest was already there. Moore had long been an admirer of Jean-Mary so the two connecting made too much sense. Moore and Jean-Mary have a pre-existing relationship beyond the one-year stay in 2020.

As of today, I am told that Moore had offered BJM a very generous offer.

I do know that Tennessee was working to keep him but I am not sure if it’s going to be enough.

Where things stand right now, I would say that U-M is currently the favorite.

I have NOT been told that a deal is done but I would not at all be surprised if we hear some finality within the next 24-48 hours.

Things are looking good for Michigan right now but will continue to keep an ear out.

I think back to that up 7 with 1:41 left against illinois

We needed one more marquee win and we battled and had it.

Dickinson dribbling into the corner. No guard getting the ball. No one calling a timeout.

A big what if moment.

There's always a few games throughout a coach's career that can change it all.

Every year prior we had those games and always won a few.

Stopping negative momentum on sports teams is hard. You aren't going to win them all, but it is about getting enough of them.

Insider Intel: More good news on the NIL front

With the Altius news now out of the way, Michigan has even more good news to share on the NIL front.

I am told that a collective will receive a SIGNIFICANT donation to NIL, I’m talking millions, that will help aid NIL efforts moving forward.

I am told that the donation will go to football players and “more”, trying to see what the more part is about.

Either way, this is a big deal keeping some of the bigger names on the roster happy.

There is some level of anonymity with the donor, so I didn’t pry to get more details.

Insider Intel: Early best guesses of a potential Sherrone Moore staff

With Jim Harbaugh officially departing for the Los Angeles Chargers, the turnaround to name Sherrone Moore shouldn't take very long. Michigan has been aware of this decision as of an hour ago, according to a source.

U-M expects that this news will become official on Thursday and the Wolverines will work quickly to name Sherrone Moore as the successor.

Now, the question becomes, how does Sherrone Moore fill out his staff?

It's becoming increasingly likely that Harbaugh will take both Jesse Minter and Jay Harbaugh with him, so he will have to fill some positions in his first few days.

After speaking to people, here are early best guesses of how he fills out the current staff:

OC: Kirk Campbell
OL: Grant Newsome
RB: The expectation is that Mike Hart could stay
WR: Ron Bellamy

DL: Mike Elston
DB: Clink

DC: Bit of an unknown as of this writing, some expect Clink to get a look but he might reach out to people.

Ben Herbert is also expected to stay.

Current expectation for JJ’s replacement…..

As always seems to be the case (transitions are always challenging)- after a (unnecessarily) panic inducing couple of weeks, the new staff seems to be coming together in an exciting way…..

Defense (barring major defections) is going to be elite. RBs= elite. OL= potential to be quite good given the turnover. TE= seemingly elite. Biggest question marks are WR and most of all QB.

Would be interested in people’s thoughtful takes on the most likely QB outcome. On the current roster it seems like Orji is the popular candidate but would require an even bigger step towards system change…. Might be best suited to run a Air Force type offense. Is that realistic (especially if only for a year or 2)?

Maintaining the current run pass mix/system it seems like it’s probably a race between Warren, Denegal and Davis…. With Orji maintaining that change up (more often) run first role. Haven’t seen much to get real excited about with Denegal/Warren and Davis is likely a season or 2 away.

Transfer portal in the Spring is an obvious possibility. Knowing that it’s all speculation is there anyone interesting out there that would be a potential import….. maybe Cade mends some fences and comes back lol…. kidding- but interested in any names, connections or speculation out there.

Warde Manuel on Harbaugh, Moore, football staff

In a recent media roundtable, Warde Manuel shared his thoughts on Sherrone Moore's first staff at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh's efforts to take staff with him to LA, and whether Michigan was caught off guard or could have done more to retain staff.
