LIVE THREAD: Michigan vs. Boston College (Frozen Four)

Here we go!

Michigan takes on Boston College tonight at roughly 8:30 p.m. EST in the Frozen Four. The game will be aired on ESPN2. The winner will take on either Boston University or Denver in the national championship game.

The Wolverines haven't appeared in a national championship game since 2011, and haven't won it since 1998.

Can the hockey team cap off the three-year trilogy in the same fashion that the football team did?

Some pregame reading:

Sports Radio Rumors in Philly - Wizard/GM Roseman is focusing on Wolverines and Seminoles..

Howie Roseman has a history of focusing on drafting National Championship players.

A few years ago it was Alabama with Hiesman winner WR Smith and C Donovan
Then he drafted he drafted 5 Georgia players over the drafts in ‘22 and ‘23: Davis, Smith, Carter, Ringo, and Dean.

Howie believes in drafting Championship players and with the exception of Dean, who is constantly injured, you can’t argue with this strategy.

I have heard from the credible guys like Sal Palentonio and NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame Writer Ray Didinger on the air state that Roseman is definitely heavily interested in drafting Jenkins, Colson and Zinter, while has his eyes on Wilson to fill their hole at the Slot position, and matching Mike Sainristil with CJCG as Safeties that will give opposing QBs serious issues. He is imagining new DC Vic Fangio playing both all over the secondary due to their exceptional ball skills, ability to cover any type of route runner, both ballhawks that make game changing plays, and are both dangerous accomplished blitzers and TFL machines…well CJCG is that dude when he’s motivated like he was for the Eagles in their ‘22 run to the Super Bowl.

I’ve even heard Blake Corum’s name brought up by the guys who are practically imbedded in the Nova Care Center on WIP and in print on websites that do actual real journalism about Philadelphia sports.

Complete list of Michigan players I have heard the Eagles are focusing on: Jenkins, Colston, Sainristil, Wilson, Zinter, McGregor (huge need at Edge for Eagles and he has been mentioned as a Day 3 steal), and Keegan. They need a No. 2 TE but there was no mention of Barner

(Birds have the greatest OL Coach in the NFL - Jeff Stoutland. He is the guy most responsible for Philadelphia’s success over the last decade, and has been always been given a big raise to stay through 3 coaching staff firings. Eagles owner will never let him leave…just look at the list of guys he molded into HOF players. This is the guy who turned Jordan Mailata from a 6-8, 370 Aussie rugby player that Stoutland screamed for Roseman to pick, which he did as one of last few players drafted in the 7th round in 2018. Stoutland taught a guy, albeit one with elite athletic traits who never played the game in his life..never even watched an NFL game except for a Beyoncé halftime show during a Super Bowl years ago, and taught him the complicated techniques, the detailed footwork in pass blocking, and the subtle nuances in how to “circumvent clandestinely”. At some point, all Tackles need to become a master at disguising holding into looking like clean play, All players cheat at all positions. The great ones become so proficient nobody can see it unless they know what they are looking for. As far as his run blocking, Mailata was born to do it. With his size, elite athleticism, and moving that nearly 400lb mass at a gps clocked 18 mph, I’ve seen him absolutely destroy guys with obviously malice in blocking hits so hard that I worry the poor safety or LB might not be alive as he lays there motionless on the field while the broadcasting team marvels at Mailata’s run blocking rugby based style. Never have a seen a man that size do the things Mailata does on the field. Just as a football fan, I recommend watching an Eagles game just focusing on him. He’s Jon Runyan Sr’s brother from another mother..you gotta see him do work.

In 3 years, Stoutland gave Mailata an accelerated course in the complexities of the many difficult situations and instantaneous decisions that naturally put OL players at a disadvantage. There are YouTube clips of Mailata describing what it was like to be fully immersed in Stoutland’s depth of knowledge, how he needed Stoutland’s gruff coaching style in order to soak up 8 hours of intense instruction every day if he wanted to be a NFL starter at LT. Tackles must make multiple correct decisions in tenths of a second every time the ball is snapped. Extremely difficult to do at the NFL level for supposedly “Day 1 Starter” high ranked players drafted high in the 1st round. In the 2021 camp, Mailata and first round pick from Oregon, Corey Dillard, were supposed to duke it out for the starting LT opening. When they strapped on the pads to see who were the gym clothes warriors and who were the real killers when pain entered in the equation, Mailata so outplayed Dillard it was embarrassing..I actually felt bad for Dillard because he had the size and talent, but had zero dawg in him. It was quickly evident to everyone that there was no competition for LT at all. Going from not knowing how put on his pads to not only the starter, but to become one of the best in the league in 3 years? It’s unbelievable unless you watched Mailata transform into an absolute menace and soon to be All-Pro at left frickin’ tackle from that beginning. Amazing feat of accomplishment and masterful instruction. Jeffrey Lurie will never let Stoutland leave, he knows how valuable he is to the Eagles past and future success.

Imagine what he could do with the raw power Keegan displays, or the heights Zinter could reach with Stoutland giving him swearword-filled masterclasses in the mini camps, Summer camp, and in the pre-season? The Eagles have 2 spots open in the starting 5 offensive line at RG, and replacing Kelce at center. Would not surprise me to see the Eagles draft Zinter on day 2..and early. Ray Didinger called Zinter “a plug and play steal” because teams are wary of his injury and that Michigan offensive linemen haven’t exactly blown up in the league of late. He said the Eagles really like Zinter and that he will be there in the 2nd round where they have 2 picks at 50 and 53. If they don’t use the extra 2nd to trade up, Didinger feels Roseman could take Zinter with either one.

I just had to post Roseman’s focused interest on Michigan players this year, as that’s his modus operandi. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him draft 3 or 4 Wolverines…Roseman likes to draft championship players. My guess is he drafts 3 Wolverines: Zinter, Colson, and Sainristil, because they fill deficiencies immediately, I’d say there is a 50-50 chance they draft Wilson in the 4th if he’s still there, and a 20% chance they take Corum if he’s still there late on day 3. This is BG’s final season as an Eagle..the guy is a Philadelphia legend who is loved by everyone..an extreme rarity in this town. I’d love to have a bunch of Wolverines drafted this year to take his place as my favorite Eagles.

Olympic Sports Michigan's Marshall Warren "emotionless" ahead of Boston College, focused on winning

Michigan Hockey's Marshall Warren is not focused on facing his former team, Boston College; he's focused on winning.
"Right now, I'm emotionless about it. It's a business trip for us. We have to beat them. They're in my way, our way."

Portal Players and Dusty Figuring Out Eye-to-Eye?

George Washjngton III decided he and Coach May might see eye-to-eye. Dug McDaniel bailed for a bottom feeder Big12 team. Not too much comment from anywhere that he’s a huge loss, even though he was our leading scorer. Youssef Khyat is headed for Bowling Green, probably a good move for him.

Who’s left, Tarris Reed Jr.? Are he and Dusty even talking? What schools have shown interest in a 6-10 240 lb. ‘Big’ who was a Big Ten starter? Anyone heard rumblings? I kinda thought he’d be gone by now. Maybe he has ‘overvalued’ himself in the market.

But like McDaniel, my guess is that Reed might not fit the mold that Dusty has for his first team. Coach May seems to be conducting a nationwide search for point guards and wings. If Vladislav Goldin clears Admissions, he’ll clearly start at center. That leaves only two places for Reed — wing or the bench. I guess there may be a third possibility — elsewhere.

Semaj Morgan wants to "lead by example" like Mike Sainristil

Semaj Morgan is entering his sophomore season for Michigan, but a breakout freshman campaign has him feeling like a veteran this year.
That means taking on a bigger role on and off the field, and he's looking to model himself after Mike Sainristil.
