Does Dusty have enough to get in the tourney?

My first reaction to the Michigan basketball roster is they don’t really have that big time star but do have a lot of complementary versatile pieces. Goldin in the paint and four guys out who can shoot it. It can work and if it does then Dusty may win coach of the year in the Big Ten. If I had to pick today I’d say no to being a tournament team with a big hedge to change up after watching a few games.

Saw @Trevor McCue reference a Torvik projection of #21.

EvanMiya has Michigan & Kentucky tied with four players for the most five star transfer portal additions.

Also has UM ranked #4 overall with the most five & four star additions. Ranked Vlad Goldin #9 best pickup.

M Baseball Saturday - MSU 12 M 8

Another what appeared to be a bull pen game for Michigan, difference is both teams brought their bats today.

M started Ramos on the mound and he proceeded to throw 8 balls in his first 9 pitches before being relieved by Dylan Vigue. MSu took and early 2-0 lead, but M fought back all day it seemed until the end.

State scored in each of the first 4 innings, but the 4th inning had to be the most disappointing for Vigue. State plated a runner from second when Vigue unleashed a wild pitch which M's catcher Leitgeb could not locate. Later in the same inning Vigue threw yet another wild pitch which allowed yet another MSU runner to walk in from third.

M fought back with 4 homers, unfortunately they needed more.

The strangest play which hurt Michigan occurred in the 6th. With a runner on second and 1 out, Dernedde checked his swing and tapped a ball in front of the plate. MSU's pitcher fielded the ball and threw it over the first baseman's head into right field. The ump called Dernedde out for some strange reason. At first the explanation was interference, but replay showed the Dernedde did not interfere with the catcher attempting to field the ball nor the pitcher. The TV crew offerred little explantion. The only thing I could surmise was that in running to first Dernedde ran outside the baseline, although it didn't look like it was that egregious. Still they called Dernedde out and moved the runner back to second base. It was big, because Rogers came in to pinch hit and promptly homered to right to bring M within 1. Absent that umps call, the score would have been tied at 7 and M would have been batting with 1 out. Sparty added 1 run to make it 8-6 in the bottom of the 6th.

M tied the game in the 8th on a two run homer by Kimm, but once again the pitching could not hold MSU as they scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th. In came Aaron Mishoulam, MSU closer, who overpowered Michigan for the second straight day.

WHat this does is put MSU with 1 game behind Michigan in the standings and in 6th place. Tomorrow's game could be huge in the standings since the top 8 make the B1G tourney and with 6 games to play after tomorrow There is little room for error as they face Purdue (3 way tie for first) and 4th place Indiana (one game behind). Maryland has 3 games remaining is in 8th, but OSU is 1 game behind MSU and could potentially overtake Maryland for the 8th and final position. M needs a victory, as the Purdue and Indian series may be big in whether they will make the B1G field.

Looks like Voit may be on the mound tomorrow for M.

That’s a shame

I can think of a few more college football folks that need to be put out to pasture

Quick OT: Worldwide, 3.35 Trillion $ was Frantically Spent on New Defense Weapons Systems in 2023..

Prelude: My psychiatrist has killed my 7 month long immersion into contract primary data research and analysis. We usually just have phone call check ups, but he didn’t like the way I was talking or my answers, and had me come in for a face to face meeting to check me out with his eyes. He decided I was deep into an obsessive altered state of psychosis and was heading towards a huge crash into a psychotic episode of unknown type or duration due to my destructive hyperactivity where I will get deeper and deeper into my brain’s “unique” way of multiple voices all taking about separate analytical observations and opinions where..I wouldn’t say often because I haven’t worked in the field in 22 years..let’s say I “have a habit” of discovering things that others missed due to this special “gift” from my traumatic brain injury at birth.

This “gift” would be truly amazing if it always didn’t end up destroying my life at the end of a long period of time of hyperactivity that, just when I hit the Apex of years of incredible, unnatural hyperactive achievement, I begin to crack until my “engine” has the inevitable catastrophic failure and I begin a slow death spiral of self destruction filled with rampant drinking, indiscriminate drug use, and using women as just another drug to abuse to find brief periods of respite from the chaos of self destruction I no longer had the strength to stop.

Ultimately, I end up immolating everything I had worked so hard to build for 5 or 6 years in approximately 8 to 10 months until I reach the Event Horizon of the super black hole of my serious mental illness..and I enter the Singularity of becoming nonfunctional altogether. I thought I put these cycles of repetitive super arduous ascents to where I can almost touch the heavens, only to fall to my “death” like Icarus in the inevitable mental collapse and slow descent into hell that always happens after I realized I’ll never have a “normal” life and made a fundamental tack to change course and quit trying to blend in. I got caught up in the validation I received from knowing I still “got it” and the praise I received as feedback. It gave me a sense of pride I haven’t felt in 15 years and I let my guard down as a result. Got deep into it again without realizing what was happening until my psychiatrist straightened me out.

There will be no more geopolitical analysis OT post from me. It’s a trigger topic for me. My final statement is I’m more convinced than ever that a 3rd global war is eminent…it’s only a matter of a roll of the Roulette Wheel as to when. If I was the military strategist of one of our enemies, I’d wait until the after the election in November. If things don’t go well for the neo-Christian National Socialists (Their name for themselves..not mine) and sectarian violence erupts domestically in the US..that’s when China will try to take advantage and attempt to take back Taiwan by invasion. There are many, myself included, that believe they missed their window already. The US, Japan, and a surprisingly belligerent Philippines control the narrow straights both directly north and south of Taiwan and would blow the Chinese Navy to the sky if they foolishly attempted to invade now. But in War..the dice are rolling and anything can happen. It’s now or never for China’s boastful claims they will take Formosa back..I think their pride will cloud their judgement and lead to an epic disaster for them.

As for Russia, there are so many countries armed to the teeth with centuries long thirsts for payback that it’s not going to take much for them to hit Putin at his weakest. I believe that Türkiye will never let Ukraine fall into Putin’s hands and will be the country to start WWIII by striking deep to Moscow through Asia Minor..what happens next is pure infinite variable equation of the chaos of war. NATO has never been stronger. In fact, it’s the strongest military alliance in the history of the world. I have no doubt as to the outcome. It’s how much it will cost us all that is vexing me.

I’ll leave you with a stock tip - start buying up GE, Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, GMC Armor if it has a stock sold separately from GM, find out which companies will be involved in the domestic production of chips and other tech components we currently buy from China…it’s already been decided that will end very soon. And always invest in AI weapons systems companies. Even Musk’s Spaceships are good investments, as DARPA has big plans for his new “Starship”. War is an indefensible outrageous crime against humanity, unfortunately it is absolutely necessary at this stage of our evolution. Might as well make a little money off what we do best as a species.

That concludes my last OT post about my contract work I did over the last 6 months. “Exceptional” was just one of the effusive compliments I received about the quality of my work that would have taken a researcher with a normal brain at least 16 months to duplicate. I still got it. The irony that my one true gift ultimately destroys my sanity when I attempt to use it is just so…me.

Insider Intel: On Jace Howard...

Spoke to someone about what's going on with Jace Howard and what his plans are for the future.

From what I took away, there doesn't appear to be a clear answer as to what's going to happen next. Howard is graduating this weekend and the general consensus is that it "sounds like" he's coming back and another segment has been non-committal altogether about what the future holds for him.

I know there are also concerns with a lingering knee issue but I don't want to speculate too much on that as that was brought up in passing and I don't know the full extent.

Either way, there is nothing official yet in terms of what's happening on my end.

So, to make a long-winded post short, I don't know.

Insider Intel: Michigan reaches out to Big Ten portal product

With Michigan continuing to build its roster by adding pieces to the portal, I have been able to confirm that Michigan has preliminarily reached out to Michigan State safety Jaden Mangham.

The Detroit product, I’m told, is close with the likes of Donovan Edwards and Makari Paige.

I could see this being a Michigan vs. Ohio State battle.

Trying to dig to get more info.

I’m a Man of My Word

As you guys know, I was worried about potentially significant portal losses for the last 3 months and cautioned several of you, including @KevinWerner @buttaball , not to celebrate prematurely until the April portal window was formally closed. I also said that if and when it closed with minimal attrition, I’d celebrate and give credit where credit was due for a tremendous accomplishment.

Well, the window closed 2 days ago and at this point, everyone who’s in the portal is in. Our final loss tally was extremely light when it came to players who mattered, as we lost only one sure fire contributor for 2024 and potential starter in Keon Sabb. And the only reason his loss stings is because of the unfortunate injury to Rod Moore just a few weeks later.

So all in all, just a tremendous job by Sherrone and company navigating through an extremely risky landscape, trying to retain all the key players on defense despite experiencing 100% coaching turnover on that side of the ball and generally having to fight off large financial offers from competing schools while simultaneously trying to build up a new coaching staff.

There will continue to be roster and financial challenges to deal with because that’s the new reality in CFB, but for a first time head coach thrown into the fire, Sherrone did a hell of a job keeping the band together despite circumstances beyond his control.

This at least gives a us a shot to put forth a competitive team in his first season (depending on QB play), and hopefully will set the table for his future success at Michigan.

It’s a reason to celebrate, and certainly an outcome that fellow CFP participants who experienced coaching changes like Washington and Alabama should be envious of, compared to their portal losses this offseason.

In closing, I’d just like to say
