Football Michigan QB Davis Warren on offensive struggles: 'I didn't do enough'

"We just weren't detailed enough, weren't precise enough."

Michigan QB Davis Warren knows the Wolverines' offense has to be better and took responsibility for the Wolverines' performance on that side of the ball after a 31-12 loss to Texas.

Stock Report: Offense vs Texas

Good, bad, and ugly in the film and the numbers of Michigan's loss to Texas.
Warren ain't the problem.
Run the damn ball.
One of two problems at WR.
Let Klein and Bredeson block.
OL, something's wrong on the right.
Start playing Michigan Football.

Stock Report: Defense vs Texas

Michigan might waste one of the best defenses in the country.
The film and numbers were not kind here, and while this is about the players, the issue was above them.
The alignments up front, the use of LBs, lack of rotation at safety, and more.

Football PFF snap counts and grades: Michigan vs. Texas

I know PFF isn't a flawless metric by any means. But it's a useful tool to evaluate how guys are performing game to game. The grades for the OL are not good. But one in particular is standing out.

Evan Link scored a 27.

You might as well just stick a refrigerator on the field and say, "well at least they'll have to run around it before getting to the QB."

Warren was pressured 14 times on 33 attempts. 10 of those pressures were given up by Link. He scored a zero in pass protection. And no, I'm not joking; I'm not being sarcastic. He actually scored ZERO in pass protection. The last time that happened was Barnhsrt's disastrous performance at PSU last year. And even then, Barnhart still managed a 48 score on PFF. Link had a 27.

And as bad as that is, the coaches obviously believe he's a better option than Gentry or Persi so how bad are they? Hell, Giudice got pulled briefly for Crippen in week one when he Giudice struggled. They had to leave Link in even with that performance.

“I’m just trying to be happy”

Does anyone think think Jim Harbaugh would be happier trying to bounce back from a Texas loss and rebuild this roster in the transfer portal era to accomplish something he’s already accomplished vs what he’s doing now?

Happy for him…he came home spent nine great years of his kids life in one of his happiest places and brought his beloved alma mater a national title and now appears as happy as a kid on Christmas chasing one final mountain.

Likely just as he dreamed/hope for some four years ago

Ok everyone breath

As I watched parts of the game from a place I didn't want to be at it was obvious we have some concerns. Good news is we play again Saturday and have a chance to get better to beat USC in two weeks.

Last week ND was a NC finalist.... This week we saw what happened. Warren if he's the guy hopefully improves quickly. I also hope our staff is better prepared. This was a sloppy game by the coordinators. It's one loss and yes tonight I think we're all a bit shaken. Before we close down the program and fire everyone let's see if the sun rises tomorrow and we can get better. I am trying to be optimistic about the QB situation and I hope my gut is wrong and Warren improves.

So don't panic yet let's see if the boys can regroup and come out with some fire next week. Can't win every game. Texas may be the NC in a few months. Keep the faith.
