- Knows Oakland will play hard and aggressive, made sense to play against them. Playing in a lot of neutral atmosphere games, wanted to make it tournament like. Oakland's zone allows a good challenge. More of a competitive spirit in the exhibition compared to a closed scrimmage.
- With the scholarship going to 15, says it allows the program to take a development player which, in hopes, keeps the player within the program. Hopes that will help with roster balance.
- No starting lineup yet, has to check health of practice. 3 or 4 guys probably start. Have to check combinations. 8 or 9 guys that can play, no separation between 1-9.
- Says the groups of players have clicked well together, big guys staying out of each others space on the floor. Defense has taken a step forward in the last week.
- Small sample size, but there's no concerns about things not working in terms of team working together.
- Contain the balance, stay on balance and you will be a good rebounding team. That starts your break, having multiple rebounders removes the outlet pass. All goes in hand (when asked about his defensive philosophy).
- Says this group has really good individual pieces to have a 'really good' basketball team.

- Vlad Goldin is an elite rim protector, Trey Donaldson has the makings of an elite defender. Rubin Jones is an elite defender. Says Will Tschetter has the makings of being a good defender, needs to stay away from unnecessary fouls.
- Says they're a little too loose with the basketball but that's to be expected with the level of speed they're playing with at the early stages.
- Says if its an issue 5-10 games in, they'll reassess things schematically
- Doing well as a shooting team, not as good as he thought they would be in the summer but shooting well. Contested threes a plus. Have a good shooting team group.
- Will Tschetter has had a huge role as a leader and modeling his behavior. Shares experience in the conference.
- John Beilein has been a huge help, even telling him where he should get his hair cut.
- Phat Brooks had a knee issue, didn't practice for first 5-6 weeks. Has been coming on the last few weeks. Brings a lot to the table, great defensive player. Says he could play football with his ball instincts.
- Cason has been a 'bright spot'. Hasn't missed a practice yet. Been as good as anyone on the roster on creating offense. Says he is in a position to contribute as a freshman.
- Pippen had a medical procedure so he has missed some time.
- Had confidence in the group, which led to his non-conference selections. Wanted Michigan back on TV in the spotlight. Says teams who schedule aggressively early improve. Didn't intend to be one of the toughest schedules in the country but wanted to be challenged.
