This is a pretty great listen on NIL. Highly recommended. And…

In my mind it shows why the people who always bellyache about Michigan NIL do so with no regard to legality, tax status, and the simple smarts of NIL. It’s so complicated and that 70/30 rule and potential penalty taxes are why some smart folks are holding back. But listen up…

I love when reality meets fantasy for NFL media re:Harbaugh

Part of the reason they love Harbaugh stories, aside from the clicks, is because, with him not in the league, they can basically make up whatever they want. There are a lot of rules around NFL teams speaking with coaches on other teams, but not so with college coaches. So they can say the Bears have talked to Harbaugh, are getting information, or however they want to frame it. "Have had conversations" is my favorite. "Hey, should we consider Harbaugh?" "No." Conversations had.

Most of them have convinced themselves of these weird narratives like Harbaugh is desperate to go to Chicago since they drafted him and the Bears want him badly. Just ignore the fact the job has been open 3 times since he left San Fran.

Anyway, look at this reaction from Ryan Poles when he was asked about Harbaugh today.

Gratitude….

I wanted to wait a few days to let everything soak in before posting about this year..this team..the greatest Michigan football team I’ve ever seen..even better than Carr’s ‘97 team. I was trying to think of the one word that sums up my Michigan experience of being born at UofM Hospital 56 years ago and growing up immersed in the fandom of my Pop’s intense love for the University he somehow graduated from without any money to do so. He was the king of the side hustle before there were side hustles. Then there was my own journey to A2 and all that story entailed. But what always was there was the love of the team…Schembechler’s ideals that defined Michigan Football..that has defined my life as much as Pop’s teachings about ethical behavior. Of course it hasn’t been perfect..there has been a lot of mistakes in my life, just as there had been with the Michigan program…down to the darkest days on the edge of the abyss, but the highs have been exquisite…sublime..just like this season has been. We are at the zenith my brothers and sisters, we will never have it better than we do right now..this season…with the prodigal son rescuing Michigan in a Greek Mythological journey that reads like Jason and the Argonauts..I literally have a difficult time expressing the emotions I’m feeling into words..and you guys know I don’t have that problem usually. To sum it up, all I feel right now that’s important beyond the superficial stuff is gratitude for my Michigan life defining experiences, for all the amazing kids on this team, and for keeping my faith in Jim, because if he couldn’t do it..then who? Like he said..it was either win or die trying for us, for him, and for the very soul of Michigan Football itself - the concept of the “Michigan Man”. For Jim to finally get it done…for all of the 9 year ride..I am extremely grateful.

We have a future and I’m looking forward to it, whether it’s with Jim or not. The man has earned the right to walk off the stage giving double birds to all his doubters and persue that dream of a Lombardi he came so close to holding..I just hope he coaches in the AFC because of my Lions and Eagles.
