Thoughts on the game . . .

I watched the game after already knowing that Michigan had one. I think doing so allows you to take a more objective view of the game (less emotionally driven).

- I thought we played well. The biggest thing is that we missed some shots. Indiana made some tough shots in the second half.
- Yeah, I wish Jones scored more. But he's a good ball handler (probably 2nd best after Donaldson), plays tough D, and seems to keep the ball moving. Gayle seems to driver into traffic and get stuck. He plays hard and good D but tends to be more foul prone. Jones outside jumper also looks smoother than Gayle's right now.
- Wolf has gotten good at keeping the ball away from the defender on his drives to the basket. He's got large hands and is able to swing the ball behind him . . . and therefore smaller guys can't strip him.
- I have to agree with Mick Cronin about something . . . Goldin is quite the actor! He acted like he was run over by a truck when that IU gut tried to go through him on the screen.
- I'd like to see Walters get a few more minutes. I liked the drive to the basket. He plays pretty good D.
- Donaldson is Mike Smith plus.
- Crazy that of our 5 losses, 1 was by 1 point, 2 were by 2 points, and 1 was by 3 points.
- Lover Raftery's call of games
- Watched the post-game press conference. All the questions about the IU job to May were annoying. If he wants to go there after the season (and they want to hire him), so be it. But I'm not going to try to make myself crazy thinking about it. Personally, I think the Michigan job is better. It will be just as easy to win at Michigan with less pressure. I wouldn't try to over analyze what he said. He seems like a pretty straight shooter to me.
- We did a great job on the boards today. We need to keep that up. Much better job boxing out and not watching the ball.

Quick Update

Thank you again for all the support and kind words.
I'm struggling to find balance right now because my dad and siblings are having such a tough time. My stepmom was young, 55, and had no health issues. I don't want to go into too much detail, but this entire thing has been a shock. I'll be easing my way back in as I get more free time, but for now I am just focused on my family as much as I can be.

Is DM one and done at UM?

I just listened to his comments in the post game press conference and he didn’t exactly pour water on that fire. When asked if he had anything to say to Michigan fans to assure them, his answer was less than declarative. I’m not normally one to jump to conclusions But based on his history and that interview I would say there’s a real possibility he’s about to take the Indiana job.

Insider Notre Dame hires Penn State's RB Coach

This has been a fun coaching cycle with some interesting moves.
After taking Jim Knowles away from Notre Dame, Penn State is now looking for a new RB coach with Ja'Juan Seider heading to Notre Dame. He'll replace Deland McCullough who went back to the NFL with the Raiders.
Seider is thought of highly with the recent success of Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. So where does Penn State likely turn?

Stan Drayton, who you will remember as the OSU coach who told Mike Weber he was staying before taking the Bears job a day after signing day. He's been the Temple HC the last three seasons.

Damiere Shaw, Rutgers RB coach, hot name thanks to Kyle Monangai. Strong recruiter, from PA.

Charles Walker, asst. RB coach at Penn State. Internal promotion for a guy who has some serious recruiting chops. He can't recruit in his current position.

Insider 2027 QB to keep an eye on

Don't be surprised if you hear about a Michigan offer for Malachi Ziegler in the near future.
2027 QB with five-star potential from Louisiana. The Byrce waves are wild, and it appears that recruitment has gotten Ziegler's attention.
Early in the process, but is Ziegler is now a Rivals Top50 in his class, and at 6'3" 197 (AS A SOPHOMORE), you don't have to squint hard to see a college QB.

If an offer comes through, I'd expect a visit scheduled rather quickly, and I'll have a lot more to share at that point.

LIVE THREAD: Michigan at Indiana

Interesting game coming up this afternoon. Michigan (17-5, 9-2) heads to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers (14-9, 5-7) at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

It was announced earlier this week that Indiana head coach Mike Woodson will not be returning next season, and the Hoosiers will be on the hunt for another head coach. It's ironic that Dusty May, a former IU student manager, will be the first coach to take on Indiana since the news dropped.

The Wolverines are 3.5-point favorites. Tip-off is at 1 p.m., and the game will air on CBS.

Football On spring ball timeline..

Initial word suggests that the spring game itself could be towards the end of April but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Will find out more hopefully soon.

With that, we’re probably looking at a mid-ish March start for spring practices. Again, will get a better look soon but the initial talk suggests that is what it’s going to look like.

Jaylen Pile is set to visit practice March 20-22 so we at least know they’ll be doing things in late March.
