Burgergate was about....burgers and campus tours

Detroit News FOIA'd the NOA from the NCAA back in December regarding the recruiting and coaching violations.
Michigan suspended Harbaugh for three games. The program and the NCAA came to an agreement over these allegations in April, with essentially "time served" and accepting Michgian's self-imposed recruiting penalties from that fall. Michigan was also placed on a three-year probation. More punishment is expected for Harbaugh who has not come to an agreement over his Level I for misleading the NCAA.

Here is an excerpt regarding the Level II violations.
According to the NOA, allegation No. 1 involved impermissible recruiting contact and inducements to three football recruits and their fathers. One of the prospects was given access to the football facilities and met with a coach in the weight room. The redacted NOA does not say which coach or coaches were involved, but a recruit and his father were met at a local restaurant and “the football program provided a discounted meal” and also allegedly had a free meal at a local restaurant. The recruit and his father were given a tour of the campus and visited the football facilities, where they were given a tour. The third recruit and his father were met at a local restaurant when they visited the campus. They were provided a tour of the campus, according to the NOA.

It's Good News Wednesday! 8-7-24

My good news is that football is on the horizon. Practice is underway, and I think we're going to be pretty good.

Our 31-year-old special needs son has had a couple of rough weeks. Last night, we took him to the ER after a couple of days of vomiting and looking very Jaundice.

The good news is that they have been able to abate the vomiting. At this moment, Michael is getting an MRI on his liver, and they have a CT scan on the schedule for his stomach and digestive system. His liver levels are out of whack and they are working hard to track down the reason.

More good news. We're in the right place with the right folks working on the problem. Mike's been through a lot in his life, and he's a very tough dude.

We have lots of faith, and we know that God is good.

What's your good news?

Go Blue!

What in the world?

Who is writing this stuff for the committee on infractions - a 13 year old butt hurt Buckeye?

“The results of those contests during Harbaugh's suspension would not count toward his career coaching record."

This was, astonishingly, put in to clarify that if Jim returns and is serving a one year suspension the games played don’t count towards his record. What?

Is this a juvenile Buckeyes attempt to establish some precedence to bolster a water cooler argument that he doesn’t get credit for last years win?

What planet are we living on?

Can’t wait for the NCAA to die it’s long overdue death. They couldn’t possibly have been LESS competent in their oversight of college football.

Decades long of programs operating like crime families going unscathed - while personal vendettas against Jim Harbaugh are approached with the energy of a jaded teenage fan.

I honestly can’t believe this is real.

You can't make this up

One of the prospects that talked to the ncaa.

After signing with ohio state.

dudek handed them the info.

I'm sure tosh iq zero.o is the only one here that isn't mad.

And look at the decision makers.

The war ohio state waged is truly unprecented.

I know there's a notion that we are playing with house money, but wow, we need another win against that dump of a school.

Michigan History: Was on Britannica (Awesome Site)…

Just reading while another part of my brain is listening to the Phillies Pre-game, I’m in the military history section reading about the Worst Generals in World History, not surprised so many Romans were in the article, but was tickled to see a Michigan General, whose ineptitude subsequently led to the “Border War” with Ohio over Toledo where Congress mediated a negotiated solution where Michigan “lost” Toledo in exchange for fast-tracking the State process of the Michigan territories, and the Upper Peninsula, that proved to be a primary source of multiple ores and minerals, along with endless miles of forests, that is still an natural resource economic “goose that lays the golden egg” for the state, while Toledo is…Toledo.

None of it would have happened without the ineptitude of this American General, who was nearly executed for his actions..

General William Hull

The deplorable conduct of Charles Lee at the Battle of Monmouth has been immortalized by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Benedict Arnold’s name is synonymous with traitorous behavior. However, not even they managed to get themselves court-martialed and sentenced to death for ineptitude on the battlefield. That dubious distinction falls to William Hull, the only general officer in American history to be ordered before a firing squad for cowardice and dereliction of duty. Hull had served with distinction in the Revolutionary War and was appointed governor of the Michigan Territory in 1805. When the War of 1812 began, Hull was commissioned a brigadier general and tasked with defending Michigan and invading Upper Canada. To say that he failed in both regards is to dramatically understate the case. Approaching his 60th birthday and exhibiting a timidity that had no place in a general about to lead an invasion, Hull also had the misfortune of facing two of the most gifted commanders ever to operate in North America. British Gen. Isaac Brock possessed a remarkable ability to anticipate his opponents’ moves and reactions, and it was not long before he had taken full measure of Hull. Allied with Brock was the Shawnee chief Tecumseh, who was head of the most formidable pan-Indian military force the continent had ever seen. Hull was thoroughly outclassed. While Hull dithered, Brock captured Fort Michilimackinac, establishing British control of the Straits of Mackinac. Hull responded by ordering the evacuation of Fort Dearborn, and the garrison was promptly massacred by a Potawatomi war band upon leaving the fort. At this point, things somehow got worse for Hull. His invasion of Canada came to an abrupt halt when he failed to capture Fort Malden, a British position that was a laughably short distance from Hull’s headquarters at Fort Detroit. Hull withdrew after a series of harassing attacks by Tecumseh’s highly mobile raiding parties. At Brownstown, south of Detroit, two dozen warriors under Tecumseh routed more than 200 American militiamen escorting a supply column intended for Detroit. Hull’s nerve was shattered. Brock, sensing an opportunity, advised an immediate march on Fort Detroit. On the night of August 15, 1812, Tecumseh led his forces across the Detroit River, and Brock followed the next morning. While British cannons shelled the fort from the Canadian side of the river, Tecumseh marched his warriors through a forest clearing in an endless parade. Hull, convinced that he was hopelessly outnumbered (he wasn’t), surrendered Fort Detroit and its 2,000-man garrison without firing a shot. The British gained control of the fort, dozens of cannons, the brig USS Adams (recommissioned the HMS Detroit), and virtually the entire Michigan Territory. Hull was taken prisoner by the British and was court-martialed upon his return to the United States. He was found guilty of 11 counts, and only the intervention by Pres. James Madison spared him from execution.

The hate on Michigan

Is becoming contagious. After some bill paying online I was looking at general headlines. Michigan needs to be taken down. Michigan cheated its way to the NC. Moore should be suspended he’s guilty of this and that. I have been a fan since my dad started taking me to games in the 50’s. I listened to the 69 game on armed forces radio sitting on top a bunker in Nam. I want to punch these idiots on podcast, espn and other outlets. They seem to want Michigan destroyed. They just won’t let it go. Harbaugh is gone , thought it would be in the rear view mirror for Michigan. Guess not!
