If Michigan truly has an extension in place for Harbaugh and hasn't announced it yet, that is absolute malpractice by Warde and Harbaugh.

We are 2-3 weeks away from the new signing day, and rumors about Harbaugh's job security are running rampant. If you have an extension, then announce it already so at least you get the benefit of it with respect to allaying concerns of commits and recruits who are considering signing elsewhere because Michigan hasn't made it clear that Harbaugh will be their coach past next year. There is no benefit to waiting to announce an extension whatsoever, which is why, regardless of what people are speculating, it is very likely that the parties haven't agreed to an extension.

Frankly, if I were a player signed to Michigan's incoming class, I would wait until the late signing period if Harbaugh hasn't signed an extension by signing day. I wonder if we will see players do this given that the NFL coaching carousel will come and go between the early and late signing periods. If Harbaugh does leave for the NFL and a player waits until the late period, he can still select a new school.
