Struggles to get open. Not a factor today, BUT his performance (or lack thereof) as a punt returner particularly disappointed me (I get that a couple of very knowledgable people on here revere him as a punt returner for some reason).
Today, in the 4th Quarter when we were still kinda-sorta “in it,” DPJ “fair caught” a definitely returnable punt. He has consistently failed to field punts, which end up being downed within our ten yd. line. We have given up very, very significant yardage this year, starting inside our ten. Sure punt returners are taught “hands off” if the punt flies inside the ten, but we have all too often NOT been in position to take possession of fieldable punts.
