Since when?

Although Michigan has produced some great linemen like Jake Long and Taylor Lewan, OL play has been an issue since the later years of the Lloyd Carr era. In fact, there is an argument that one would have to go back to an OL that produced three first rounders (Steve Hutchinson, Jeff Backus and Maurice Williams) back about twenty years ago to find the last OL that is better than what could be in store in 2019. This line has a remarkable four players on the Outland Trophy watch list and outstanding young depth behind them.

Come to think of it, wasn’t it about the time that that last great OL graduated that Ohio State began to dominate the rivalry? Let that thought sink in for a few minutes.
