She takes abdication of responsibility to new lows. I have no respect at all for someone like her. She was provost when complaints against Strampel happened, yet she says the provosts who followed her were the ones who should have done something. Then an incredible statement of "collective responsibility but no individual blame". I'm sure the people who worked under her felt that she never placed blame on any of them, right? Based on what she says, I'm sure she never held anyone responsible for what happened in the units they led at MSU, right?
She also pretty much says nothing happened in the way of disciplining Strampel because of the "overall arc" of the college he led. Basically saying that performing well in terms of production made it OK for him to sexually harass women with impunity. I hope there is something they can prosecute her for. Minimally she needs to be completely ousted from MSU and the retirement package she currently has. I know it won't happen given the protection she has from Ferguson, Secchia, etc.. But one can hope and dream that something will come back to bite her.

Despite knowing for nearly 15 years that Michigan State University dean William Strampel had a pattern of making sexually inappropriate comments to female students, former MSU President Lou Anna Simon still didn't believe there were any issues that "would rise to the concern of a 'sexual predator.' "
While acknowledging that he could sometimes be "boorish," Simon, in an interview last month with Michigan State Police, described Strampel as "straightforward, to the point of irritation" and "very direct."
Simon, according to the interview, first learned about Strampel's behavior in 2003, when she was MSU's provost — the university's top academic officer —but she repeatedly said throughout the interview that the provosts who followed her would have been the right people to take action against Strampel. At the time, Simon was in the process of becoming MSU's president and she said she left further action for the person following her as provost.
At the end of the interview, Arndt asked Simon whether she viewed herself as partially responsible when she looked back at the scandals involving Strampel, now facing multiple charges, including groping a female student, and Larry Nassar, the MSU doctor recently sentenced to prison after being accused of molesting more than 200 girls and women.
"There is collective responsibility, not individual blame," Simon said, "but you could not pick out a piece of what happens or a thing that you say, such as a boorish comment, that is now a signal. It would not be accurate in many cases and so you can try and make that supposition but you try and make your judgment at the time on what you know. In a sense, that behavior had been corrected."
Strampel never faced discipline over the comments because of the university legal counsel's advice to her and other administrators, Simon told the police. At one point in the interview, Simon said that if a person looked at the overall"arc" of the college, then Strampel was an "acceptable performance in terms of the (decision-making matrix) used," according to the report.
