Mrs. Varnsen bid on an evening with a local MD who spent some of his time during the pandemic hosting online cocktail mixers. Our bid was part of a local charity event and we had the winning bid.
Last night we attended and had a great time with two other couples we brought, The Doc hosted at his house and we sampled a series of cocktails he made. In particular, the Hemingway Daiquiri was, I thought, terrific.
Never been a cocktail guy before -- I always preferred (in rough order) scotch, beer, and wine. But I really enjoyed the cocktails (and the company) and came away with a new appreciation for the history and craft behind the drinks. (The Doc is a terrific host and raconteur.). The Daquiri was my favorite, followed by a "riff" on an East India Company cocktail, a terrific margarita, and an Old Fashioned.
Where does the board stand on cocktails versus other libations and what are some of your favorites?
