it was tight, like all of these are. They're playing to find combinations and to improve, and they were happy with a lot of what they did.

Maar was lights out. More aggressive than they've ever seen him. Wagner is a pro. Eli Brooks was actually second off the bench and played well, with Zavier starting. I still think there's a shot Simmons starts, but Toledo went under every ball screen on him, Z and Charles Matthews ... that's going to drive Beilein nuts. Matthews was good and hit a few jump shots, also got to the rim. The defense was solid, especially when Matthews and Z were on the floor together.

As Quinn noted, Isaiah Livers hit a few triples and looked good at times.

"Eli is the best freshman." They can play him off the ball, but he's smaller there than they'd like.
