Defenseman Keaton Pehrson, 6-3 195, has committed to Michigan to be part of the class of 2018. Originally committed to new Wolverine head coach Mel Pearson at Michigan Tech, Pehrson will likely skate for Tri-City of the USHL this season before joining Michigan in twelve months.

Pehrson has played high school hockey in his hometown of Lakeview, Minnesota, supplemented by a handful of games in the NAHL at the end of last season.

Great objective info. But what's your subjective opinion of his game? :)

A little bit confused by this one...

Mattias Samuelsson (NTDP and likely first round NHL pick), Jacob Semik (Hlinka team and 2nd-4th round pick) and Alec Regula are all D that are in the USHL All American Prospect Game. Regula may be 2019 but there are still two other D coming in. Perhaps they think Hughes is one and done

Hughes is not the only possible early defection at all. It's the nature of the college hockey business and Mel is taking measures to cushion any blow.

Still lists himself as a Michigan commit on his Twitter account. Have not heard otherwise.
