How can a guy who isn't a good qb (Tarun) actually wind up winning

Did you see the FSU backups last year in the games where Winston was unable to play? He was terrible!!! He made Morris and Gardner look like Tom Brady out there. I think Morris would start if he went to FSU. Read up on your man-crush - great through the first 6 games and absolutely horrendous in the last 6 - even worse stats then Gardner actually during that stretch. That's called inconsistency. He may have flashes of greatness but he is not making it as a QB in the Pros.

South Carolina and Clemson did not recruit him when he was at Myrtle Beach High School and that always tells me something. Spurrier was heavily criticized two years ago for not recruiting another QB (Jacob Parks) out of Stratford in Charleston. Parks signed with Georgia, played one year as the 4 deepest backup and then transferred to a Junior College somewhere in New Mexico so he would not have to sit out a year. Gholston fits FSU's style of offense and their heyday is over. Fisher lost control of the program. They will still be good because they have great players to recruit in the best Prep football state. I lost all respect for Fisher and cannot stand FSU. Oklahoma State's QB is also from South Carolina and was not recruited by USC or Clemson. USC and Clemson do the bulk of their recruiting out of Georgia and Florida and they take a select few from SC.

Florida State is what no sports program should aspire to be. It's a program that blatantly says, athletic performance makes you invincible. Most decent teams would have kicked Winston off the team 2 years ago. I think that entire program is sleezy, shady and does a terrible job representing college football.

Hmmm.

In a telephone interview with the Tallahassee Democrat on Tuesday, FSU coach Jimbo Fisher reiterated his stance that Golson must earn the starter's role. Maguire ended spring practice at the top of the Seminoles' depth chart.

"This is a wide-open competition. He knows that. And we had that conversation when he was here," Fisher said. "And I think that's one of the things that impressed me about him. He didn't expect anything like that. He wanted to come in and compete and be given the opportunity to compete. Which is what we're giving him."

Fisher said he was happy with Maguire and the team's young quarterbacks.

""I think we have a great group. I really do," Fisher said.

"This was just an opportunity to get a guy that's led a team to a national championship game, that was one of the frontrunners for the Heisman halfway through the season. This guy has a heck of a track record and I think he can help our team to win a championship and make us a better football team. And that's my job as a coach to be able to do that."

Reality Man, I am not sure why you are starting you "let me justify why I love Golson" campaign again. We all know you love him!!! Despite his 20 INTs, he's your rock. That's great - but it does not change the fact that he is terrible. A lot of teams will take anyone as a QB - Michigan included. There are not a lot of great QBs in CFB and Golson is certainly not a top 10 IMHO. Bama has had QB issues as they did last year as well.
