dementia?

We have an older yellow lab female, Brandi, who is 17.5 years old this month. Are there any vets or experts on this Board or owners who have experienced this issue? What can we do to help? She can't see or hear very well, in addition to other issues. All of a sudden, two weeks ago she started barking indoors, especially in the evenings. Obviously, we have been lucky as she has had a long life.

She has some kind of internal clock that goes off a little earlier each day as the sun goes down. I have read about Sundowner's in dogs and it is similar to people. She seems confused, restless and likes us to take her to a more confined space. She is now a real picky eater as to content and timing. A yellow lab walking away from food is a brand new experience for us. Her appetite is substantially reduced. After talking to the vet, we have switched her to roasted chicken and fried rice with some chicken broth.

Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.
